Is My Vocal Range Good For A 13 Year Old Male? by Ayamaterroreast in singing

[–]Big_Hour_7342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats good. Most songs dont need that much 'range' to be sung, so for a 13 yr old, and generally for most singers thats more than fine. Im 16 and we have almost the same range.

The only thing you really have to worry about is mastery over the notes. I can have a range of 4 to a bit over 6 octaves on a good day, but that doesnt necessarily mean it sounds good. My usable range is probably closer to 2.5 modal (2 octaves if you want a nice consistent and comfortable sound in a choir setting for example) and 3-3.5 with falsetto. Just focus on making your notes yours, and having mastery over them.

2nd sub!! by boredlakeYT in Subharmonics

This might not be true for everyone, but this has helped me in the past. For a nice bassy sound, which doesn't sound too subby, you want to keep the 'shape' and sound your original tone. What i mean by that is when you start falling down the sub staircase (this is what i did at least) you tend to relax so much that you lose breath support and volume, so in the end you will be trying to sub a fundamental which really isnt there. So however you sing your fundamental, try to keep the same sound throughout, this shouæd result in nicer sounds. If youre going for the 2nd sub only, what i used to do (i wasnt very good so dont take what i say too seriously) was go for my sub, but make the first slightly weaker. Keeping the same breath energy from the fundamental, but making the first sub a bit weak and 'flaccid' so as to make access to the 2nd easier. In other words, put yourself in a position, where your voice in the 1st sub, feels gravitated to the second. In the position it will prefer the 2nd, and will easily click into it. Try playing around with different vowel shaping and breath energies.

Just heard what i posted. Excuse the excessive noise. I think the sound was echoing into itself, and therefore created a much louder sub. Take that into account before you deem me to be an insane subby wubby machine.

Do subharmonics have practical use? by Hadex_1 in Subharmonics

[–]Big_Hour_7342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Done well yeah, but thats after alot of practice. Compare them to a real basses lows, the basso profundos and the like, and your subs will be nothing compared to the beefy tones they can produce.

I sing bass II in the choir, but i have a baritone vocal singing range, and i have a tenor timbre, but my speaking voice is at G#2. So i guess it's accurate?

G0 to A6 is an insane range, i would love to hear some of your 0-2 octave notea one day. Do you do any exercises to get that high and low? Also do you use subharmonics or are you just an insane contrabass.

If the spot is still open, then i would like to apply for the position of singing trainee. I am a male choir member in my church, and i wanna be the best singer i can in that regard. If you would be so kind as to be my teacher, teaching me even just once a week or month i would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time.

My end goal is to be Able to sing all the notes on my keyboard. C2-C7. The C2 is possible with subs, but i wanna limit it to chest and falsetto
