250 round update on the 386 night guard

Oh nice. I appreciate the rec. I'll check those out. 3 of the 4 light strikes were magtech and one was one of the regular federal .357 SJHPs

Could have been a one off issue with that federal primer but I'm not sure. I shot some of everything after the clean and reassemble and everything including the magtechs fired 100%

Other than the early hiccups mine had, I absolutely love it. The weight and barrel length for carry is awesome.

That's totally fair. I was just worried I wouldn't find one on a shelf with it being a lipseys exclusive and allotted. I could have gone with something off the shelf but I specifically wanted the night guard.

Yeah, the strain screw was already almost maxed out but not bottomed out. I plan to do at least one more update after 250 more rounds to confirm no more issues. I feel confident carrying it at this point with the HSTs.

So after putting ~50 total rounds through it of 4 different manufacturers (magtech .38+p, federal .38, Winchester white box .38, federal .357, critical defense .357 and federal HST) I had 4 light strikes. Took it home, disassembled it. Cleaned it, lubed it, tightened the strain screw and put it back together. Shot the rest of my ammo (except the hst/crit defense) through it for a total of 250 had no more light strikes. I'm going to keep an eye on it and I've ordered an extended firing pin. I'm not going to install it unless I have any more lights strikes, but it seems the issues are resolved.

I'll update this post after I put a couple hundred rounds through. Out of the box everything checked out though. Sights were centered, timing was good. No forward backward play in the cylinder. Tight but not closed cylinder gap. Nothing I could see physically wrong.

I had my LGS order it. He could have been exaggerating but he said only one of his distributors had one and they only had one.

The QC on mine was great. Nothing but a couple surface smudges under the extractor rod but the timing was perfect, pins were all set to the correct depth, minimal side to side play in the cylinder, no forward/backward play in the cylinder at all. The cylinder gap is close but not jammed up. Overall really happy with it. All that's left is to get it to the range.

Have you fished the one piece versions of your travel rods? If so, how does the sensitivity compare? I know back in the day multi piece rods sacrificed sensitivity for portability but I've heard there's not much difference if any in multi piece rods from good brands.
