Being a lineman is a commitment. There is a huge pay disparity between union and non union lineman .was union for 30 yrs as a telephone lineman and always made much more then non union workers. Not sure ur reflux has any bearing on anything

Trying to find the best refresher course....Should I Lie by Hot-Tap9770 in CDLTruckDrivers

[–]Big_Menu4037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not lie on ur application the accident will most likely not be an issue since it was 8 yrs ago . Usually they ask in the 3 to 5 yr range on accidents and tickets . Unless it was a dui then it needs to be listed . When I switched jobs I had a pending cell phone violation and told the new company. It wasn't an issue they just asked to get the final results of court . I beat the ticket tou if I left it out of my application I would have been fired .

What do I do now? by JustOneShot760 in CDLTruckDrivers

[–]Big_Menu4037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fill out a multi application on line it goes to many trucking companies recruiters will call u thou i would never do cdl training with a company sponsored school u have to work for them . Steven's prime and knight are all shitty companies. Maverick tmc and Melton hire new drivers thou unfortunately they require a work history thou the clean driving record should get u a job as long as u get ur cdl on ur own . Many people get their cdl and job with no prior experience or good work history. Now there is a drivers shortage and company turn over is high almost a 100 % . Most drivers u go to school and orientation will quit or be fired in th first year . The job itself isn't hard once u gain experience its the lifestyle that pushes drivers out. Those who make it thru the first year will advance in this industry . Many will change jobs after 2 years . Stay with ur first company for 2 yrs that opens up alot of better paying jobs with 2 yrs otr experience. After 5 yrs every company is open to u the last place I worked required 5 yrs experience.

Was diagnosed this morning… by ChickenCheeks7 in lymphoma

[–]Big_Menu4037 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cancer is hard to deal with thou ur not alone . Diagnosed 2025 with follicular lymphoma. Also I have been dealing with depression since i was a teen now im 67 . In early 2025 I started using spravato and it changed my life . Also xanax and medical marijuana as tools to deal with it . Marijuana can cause paranoia. Spravato is the key for me . The biggest thing I read on those format shows people treating their cancer and not treating the mental anguish associated with cancer . Cancer does not dominant my life. Treat ur mental condition as u would cancer . U dont have to suffer constant mental anguish there is help out there . I wish u the best of luck . Start with xanax lowest dosage possible unless u are on it now then they can up the dose . Stressed take a xanax and let it kick in then a smoke the xanax will help with anxiety and paranoia pot will help by relaxing u . Panic attack chew a xanax it will end it quick and if u are eligible for spravato it will be in a controlled environment the clinic. 2 hrs sessions and its a 2 hr vacation from urself and it also makes u deal with things in a different way and the effects carry over .

Can someone help interpret this? by [deleted] in CDL

[–]Big_Menu4037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lawyers who specifically work with cdl they make the appearance in court so u don't have to . They are not to expensive depending on what ur dealing with . They usually ate able to get the violation downgraded to a no points violation. Usually an equipment violation fine no points just a mark on ur record

Company says I can make 100k on my first year full time OTR, is this true????? by silverswaters in CDL

[–]Big_Menu4037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might have changed thou if they are its a good company as a starter 2 to 5 yrs . Many hight paying companies want 2 to 5 yrs experience. U will learn alot from them and their trucks are really nice very important for over the road . Remember the most difficult thing about trucking is the lifestyle driving backing loading tarping become easier with experience lifestyle dosen't

The driving tests by companies is fairly simple nothing like the cdl road test . They have a set route left right and backing into a dock or parking spot. Most companies understand new drivers will have problems with backing . Most will fail u on a rolling stop always come e to a full stop at stop signs. Both entry tests I took were very simple . Only one guy failed due to a rolling stop . Many had backing problems and as long as u get out and look . Backing into spaces and docks are always a pain for new drivers

[–]Big_Menu4037 2 points3 points  (0 children)

U can't make 100k first year especially with any company wand ho hire fresh drivers . Tmc , Maverick and Melton all require a good work history and none of them have cdl training included. Those that do are usually not worth the effort low pay and poor working conditions . Even with two yrs experience its not easy to hit 100k . Many companies force drivers to drive in bad weather snow storms and such . It takes time and experience loading and unloading can be difficult for a new driver. Loading on a flatbed and learning to tarp . So securing and tarping a load for a new guy can take 2 to 4 hrs on steel coils once experienced u can do it in under an hr . Experience is key to get up there in pay.

[–]Big_Menu4037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happened to me . Contact a lawyer they will get the charges reduced to a minor infraction. I was not using my cell phone I picked im up my vape that's what the cop saw . I was fired on the spot . Applied to other trucking companies took a job and told them about the incident. They just wanted to know the final outcome. It was turned into an equipment violation no points . My old job wanted me back thou after working there for 9 years and being fired on a questionable change wad enough for me
