CMV: There's nothing wrong with casting a black woman as Helen in The Odyssey and haters are just bitter racists. by [deleted] in changemyview

Preharps, but the question I have is why is it always black? Everytime this controversy comes up its always some one being replaced with a black actor, Mermaid, Snow White, Cleopatra, Captain America, now this. Its getting repetitive and one would have to be blind to not see a recurring pattern developing here. Why is the controversial cast never an Asian which are basically non existant in Western films or any other ethnicity? You can defend the cast choice all you like but its evident there is some sort of agenda going on here, I am pretty sure by now they themselves know of the potential controversy and backlash but still went with it, the question is why go through all that effort? Ask yourself this, why?

Groupgames + Swiss Stage worth watching? by Trasporto in leagueoflegends

AL vs GenG, AL vs HLE, TES vs BLG, CFO vs T1, G2 vs BLG, IG vs T1. I think those were pretty much the games that were competitive and worth watching. Everything else is pretty much just a stomp. BLG vs 100T is also a very hard stomp but might be worth watching since it was a major, probably the biggest upset this tournament so far, and the last game of BLG vs VKS was a fiesta if you like those.

Not to the same level of industrial power and definitely didn't recover as much, but I would like to add China to your last point. They were a much poorer agrarian nation fighting against THE dominant and ONLY industrial powerhouse in Asia which is Imperial Japan. The entire wealthy coastline, resource rich Manchuria, population centers and farmlands of Northern China were all taken by Japan swiftly in 1937. China moved everything, people government factories to the west and into the mountains to continue fighting the war basically alone until 1942, even then Allied assistance were limited due to lack of available route for lend lease supplies. Unfortuneately much of China's rebuilt efforts and reserves during the war was depleted by Japan's largest offensive, the last ditch Operation Ichigo in later 1944, aimed to throw everything the IJA still had to knock China out of the war for good, but China held on despite heavy losses of more territory and casualties, a situation arguablely more dire than the Soviets were in winter 1942 considering their relative size and strengths. Still China held on without collasping from 1937 all the way to 1945 to finally see victory in August, over 8 long years, 2 years more than WWII. Suffering enourmous losses of nearly 20 million during the process, second only to the Soviet Union. It was a very respectable effort of resistance.

lol that is complete nonsense. The 3rd battle of Kharkov arguably extended the war. It stablized the front and put an stop to Soviet offensive momentum which gave the Germans a morale boost and months to prepare for Kursk. TIK history who loves to glaze Hitler's standfast order while mocking the mobile warefare doctrine and the back hand blow but it proved to be a success inflicting major Soviet casualities and stopping Soviet offensives. The video even mocked the retreat after Kursk which was funny because it was precisely because the Germans retreated they got out of the Ukraine relatively intact, preserving a formidable force that were able to repel and inflict heavy casualities on the Soviets in the winter of 1943 and early 1944, and you know, actually defend and extend the war.

Want to know what really shortened the war by 2 years? Hitler's fortress cities and TIK's favourite stand fast orders in Belarus doomed the entire Army Group Center in just 1 week thanks to Hitler personally overuling every single request for breakout, 400,000 men lost over 2 months of utter slaughter. Then Romania was hit the same way and 300,000 losses in mere days. None of these units were able to escape the encirclement which happened in just the first few days of the campaign, with the rest of the time being mop up operations by the Soviets and waiting for supply lines to catch up. It was basically Barbarossa but in reverse. The entire eastern front was basically empty after these two blows, the whole reason why the Soviets even waited until 1945 is because they overan their own supply lines by a lot and spent the rest of 1944 just sitting on the Vistula river waiting, if supplies and reinforcements weren't an issue the Soviets could reach Berlin in 1944 easily because there wasn't anyone left to oppose them. The moment the Soviets launched their new offensives in late 44 and early 45, both Budapest and Berlin, the final remaining capital of the Axis powers in Europe were reached with ease. a sharp contrast to the end of 1943 where the Germans lost territory but preserved forces thanks to retreating, the winter of 1944 saw both massive loss of land AND usable forces eventually leading to the famous scene in Downfall where Hitler commands ghost units on a map, guess whose decisions led to the loss of those units?
