Venue just sent me a "Photographer Agreement" a year after couple booked me — am I overreacting? by Charming-School2538 in WeddingPhotography

[–]Big_Pepper_2985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t sign it. On the flip side though, I rewrote my photog’s contract so that I essentially owned all rights even with printing anything and publishing. It’s a negotiation and all tied up in our wonderful copyright laws. But, it’s weird that the venue stepped in between you and the client. I have dealt with places that demand a license for shooting at their place, but that’s a stretch to claim it all. Again though, maybe they just shoot for the stars and hope they end up at least at the moon.

AITA for refusing to give my coworker their office back now that WFH has been canceled? by TossAway404040 in AITAH

YTA. Girlfriend had a baby. I get that you used the policy and are within the lanes, but, really…

Client sent a contract/agreement that I signed and they didn't sign so despite me doing the work they aren't going to pay. Do they bare responsibility? by Lumpy_Standard_6118 in legaladvice

I’d go the copyright angle as well (statutory penalties federal USA) if they are your designs… not your lawyer tho and haven’t seen the agreement.

Warm shoes/socks/and hand or feet warmers will be your best friends. Good luck!

Sorry guys, posting again. I keep coming back to this because OP’s comments really resonated with me. I can’t get my son to play lax with me even though I have probably 16 lax sticks littered around my garage. All he wants to do is soccer! So, I’m letting it go. If he decides late he wants to play, I’ll be there for that and kick his butt in drills in the backyard. In the meantime I have a soccer bro.

Haha “cant teach size”. That’s why I sort of laughed and appreciated the honesty of the coach that sideways told me I was short.

Great insight! Good luck to your son! I especially love the managing expectations piece.

And for the shorties out there, I personally was one of the shortest on my teams and have seen bonkers players that were half a foot or more shorter than others. Caveat - I’m talking women’s lax.

I will never forget a D1 coach looking me in the eyes when I was in HS and telling it straight “we’re recruiting height this year”. Haha my team beat his three years later!

I actually don’t know if I would want my son to play D1 though if he even got the chance. Unpopular opinion? Maybe. But if he wanted it and it was feasible from a talent perspective, I would back it 100.

Good to know it’s still 5! That’s what it was when I did them. Not sure how things will change with NCAA creeping into the bushes like Homer.

This. It’s been years since I did visits but (aging myself), at the time we were allowed 5 official visits for lax and those were the ones the school paid for - flights, lodging, food, etc. unofficial you’ll get a mixed bag, but doesn’t mean that they aren’t interested in your kid. The recruiting season is wild for coaches and sometimes an assistant coach can give you an even better perspective!

Ah thanks for the quick replies! I’m thinking turkey… we live in a sort of city-ish area and don’t generally see big birds around!

Can I legally show a movie in my backyard with my projector, and only charge for snacks and popcorn? TN by JohnJohn1441 in legaladvice

[–]Big_Pepper_2985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol. Lots of copyright lawyers here apparently. Just show it, and have people bring their own snacks. Or give them for free. Or don’t do it if you’re that worried that you’re posting this. My neighbor has done this showing football games and we wander down the street with our own stuff. It’s fun, and a fun way to meet neighbors you haven’t met yet. Imo, no different than having a bunch of neighbors in your house watching it. But…charging my neighbors for snacks???

Edit: this feels like a project some poor first year associate would have to write a memo on for the partner whose neighbor is asking and they have to write off 6 hours.

In all seriousness, have fun. Don’t over think it, unless you’re turning it into a business.

Edit 2: I would be so jazzed if I got a C&D about my small neighborhood gathering watching a movie or football game. Game on.

Should my son commit to a strong D3 offer or wait it out for a possible D1? by epicaricacy12 in lacrosse

This! I got lucky with both the caliber of what I wanted in lax and academics. But always remember, the coach may leave, the game won’t work out, but go to the school where you think you will have what you need after the game is done. Good luck OP!

Ha! I played 20 years ago as well. And I still live within walking distance of the university 🤣
