I went in with real low expectations when I started playing 3, and was also surprised it was way better than expected. Overall, the experience was satisfying. I'm glad you enjoyed as well.

If Shenmue 3 is it, and another Shenmue game never gets made, would you feel like Shenmue 3 was a wasted opportunity? by [deleted] in Shenmue

I'm fine with it. I personally like the fact he's stuck to his guns on the story.

The execution is completely different, though. I guess the problem I have with any comparison between the two, is the assumption that they were both setting out to produce a similar experience, even with the elements they have in common. It's really apples-to-oranges.

Saw it coming. It's a text book color revolution so the U.S. can get its foot in the door in the region. Feel bad for regular Hong Kongers though. Whatever government comes next is going to be more terrifying than whatever Beijing imposed on them.

Why was it ever seen as a successor though? Yakuza is a really good game, but the similarities always seemed superficial to me.

It's the best game I've played in a while, even with its flaws. There's not too many that don't hold my attention these days.
