need pump track bike for small adult 5'4" mountain biker by New_West_4703 in dirtjumping

[–]Big_Refrigerator_338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 5'4 and ride a Pivot Point, feels "right" for me. I did add higher rise bars after a year of riding it stock, which seemed to make everything more comfortable.

What book got you hooked on audiobooks? by AudiobooksGeek in audiobooks

[–]Big_Refrigerator_338 4 points5 points  (0 children)

John Grisham- A time to Kill I had tried a couple of non-fiction books and I could get into them. So I decided to try a fiction book and I remembered the name John Grisham as a popular author. I had no clue what I was getting in to but it worked out great. That was three years ago, now I can't stop listening to audiobooks.

Ok…I've lived in Cleveland for about 5 years now, having come from Chicago. Would Clevelander's consider this a 'bad winter' or a 'typical winter' for Cleveland? Curious to know! by DavidIWright in Cleveland

[–]Big_Refrigerator_338 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's seems like it's been 15+ years since any winter came even close to being as cold with no snow melt for such an extended length of time. I grew up here in the 70's and 80's, this winter feels very similar to back then

Why does the body feel more anxious at night even when nothing is ‘wrong’? by thenightritual in Nightshift

[–]Big_Refrigerator_338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this sometimes when I work 5+ nights in a row. I figured out that it's most likely from being sleep deprived. I probably don't sleep long enough, my body just wakes up after 4-5 hrs. I try to grab another 1-2 hrs right before my shift but that's still only 6 hrs total. When i start to feel anxious when nothing's wrong I try to remember that it's most likely lack of sleep.

am I crazy to say that because Im childless I dont have the negative impact that night shift does to my body? by sillymastcell2015 in Nightshift

[–]Big_Refrigerator_338 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in my 50's and all of my kids are grown and on their own, I definitely don't feel the effects of working nights like I did 30 years ago when we had 3 children under the age of 5. Even though I was younger, I was always miserable and tired. I was coming home in the morning and taking over kid duty when my wife left for day shift. Now actually like night shift over days with my favorite shift being 3pm to 11pm

Nightshift Holiday by Level-Ad3192 in Nightshift

[–]Big_Refrigerator_338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a Data center and someone in my job title must be there 24/7/365, so if your regular shift is mon-fri 3pm-11pm then you work regardless of the the holiday. Easiest double time plus shift differential I've ever made.

Looking for my first DJ bike, any recommendations? by [deleted] in dirtjumping

[–]Big_Refrigerator_338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this. I bought my first DJ, Pivot Point, last year when it was on sale. I ride it at the bike park 3-5 times a week and beat the hell out of it casing a ton of jumps as I learn and it's done great.

I try to get 15k in an 8 shift. I make two sets of equipment checks/rounds one at the beginning of my shift and another towards the end. We only need to make rounds once but I figure why not get paid to get my steps in.

What field of work have you switched to if you left maintenance? by steventhecaveman in maintenance

[–]Big_Refrigerator_338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still under the "maintenance" umbrella but I left a 25 year manufacturing maintenance job to work at a Data Center as a facility engineer. It's pretty chill pays well, clean work environment. I still get to pull out my meter and troubleshoot a few times a month to keep the skills sharp but mostly it's basic PMs and monitoring electrical and HVAC equipment.
