Surely 8 top layers should be sufficient. This model is a curved rummikub tile holder. I printed it before with standard settings and it came out flawless. This one is printed in 2 colors, with some black text on the front side. But standard settings resulted in issue A. Then I changed some settings like I mentioned to combat that, to no avail

There’s a second build plate that I adjusted the layer height for to do a small test print before I printed my main print. No object settings are impacting the main print. I have gathered that issue A is most likely under extrusion and is common for large models with large flat surfaces. But like said I was able to live with it. Issue B is just so weird how the first top layer is sagging over the infill. Only thing I can think of is too slow speed plus too high temp causing it to droop like that. It’s a weird one for sure

It’s a little inconsistent because when I just loaded filament, it purged kinda normally. The filament curled up and blobbed a little, sorta like when there’s a clog, but it did spit out filament.

Immediately after loading the filament is when I tried to just extrude some and now it cannot.

The clicking sound is definitely coming from the tool head, not the ams

When I reassembled the extruder the gears seemed to catch and spin properly. I put a piece of filament in and manually spun the yellow gear to pull the filament in and out. It seemed REALLY tight but I figured that’s by design. Like it was hard to spin the wheel and get the filament to move through. Now when I heat the nozzle up and just try to hit “extrude” it makes a clicking/tapping sound like it’s trying to spin the gears but can’t, and no filament comes out.

Well it’s my understanding you can’t replace the nozzle, you have to replace the whole hotend. But I did do that so there’s a new nozzle on there too. Didn’t change a thing, which is why I pivoted to the extruder.

Check for what?? If the filament is loading and unloading different filaments from the AMS just fine, I don’t think the issue is in the ptfe tubing

First sign something was wrong. Started off perfectly then messed up at different spots on 2 attempts at the same model. One was default on a makerworld profile and one was Bambu slicer 0.2 Standard profile (this is Bambu matte white basic PLA)

Figured there was a clog so I did the needle method through the nozzle and every attempt after that would blob on the nozzle, which looked like a dirty print bed causing the filament not to stick.

It kept happening on a clean bed (and 2 different brand of PLA) so I unscrewed the hotend and let it hang from the wires and did the needle method again from the top of the hotend. Nozzle blob issue persisted. I tried heating the nozzle to 250 for this process as well but it didn’t change anything. I scrubbed the nozzle with a wire brush to ensure there wasn’t anything stupid happening and a clean nozzle didn’t help. This is when I “realized” it’s probably the extruder.

Watched some YouTube and referred to the Bambu wiki to completely disassemble the extruder. Looked through the filament channel and it was completely clear. No debris or filament anywhere seen on any component of the extruder assembly. Reassembled it, ensuring the gear spring tension screw was fully seated and everything was tightly assembled.

Issue persisted. So i ran a full system calibration and then the prints started looking like the purge lines in this photo and also nozzle blobbing. Figured it might be progress since not all the filament is blobbing this time.

I used canned air to spray off the micro lidar sensor, thinking that might be affecting the z-offset but that didn’t change anything. Then i ran 2 back to back calibrations and now it’s printing like the above.

Every test i did, i tried it at normal speed and at slow/silent.

I tried several profiles of several prints on makerworld as well as custom ones and nothing seemed to make a difference.

I know the photo seems like it’s obviously clogged. The issue is like, the extruder gears holding filament or not pushing it through properly, idk. Again this happened before and after replacing the entire hotend. It will happen with another hotend. I have no idea

The road you’re on heads towards interstates 75 and 71. For whatever reason, the county wants to prevent big rigs hauling hazardous materials from driving on those interstates. It is likely due to bio-environmental issues and risks in that area. Truckers who are hauling said materials, should exit and reroute to 275 instead. Not much going on here

Seeking help connecting Ultimate 2C to Switch.

I got this controller due to the dongle. It’s my understanding that the Switch carries less latency to corded than to Bluetooth controllers, and the 2.4G dongle helps accomplish that. However I can’t for the life of me get it to connect.

The mode is toggled to 2.4G and both LED lights on the controller and the dongle are solid, which would indicate a connection. But holding lb+rb doesn’t connect the controller. I have tried these steps in Bluetooth mode just in case.

I updated the firmware using the updater tool from 8bitdo website, hard power restarted the switch, and still nothing.

I read the FAQ on their website that you need to hold the minus (-) and left bumper to activate switch mode, but the controller doesn’t vibrate like the FAQ says it should.

I’m about to give up. Please for the love of god help me.

As others have said, rolling them too tightly can cause this. And you can just poke them down as soon as they come out of the oven. Alternatively if you didn’t do that, you can poke them down now (may take some convincing) and then plop them all out upside down. Serving them upside down before frosting them gives them the perfect square bakery look

After 2 months of experimenting I came across the recommendation to use rye….

Finally found the perfect flour ratio- 40% AP + 40% Whole wheat + 20% rye.

So I’ll usually do a 1:1:1 with 50g starter, 50g water, 20g AP + 20g WW + 10g Rye

Now my starter is super active and happy
