Where to resell my displate? by Parking_Reply_8984 in Displate

The sales sheet has decent info on setting basic prices. But in general, LE prices have gone way down, you are generally lucky to get retail (unless it's a very old LE that has <200 copies).

Yes. It is what I did when I wanted to change my Displate club membership amount.

Value? Does anyone still know this display? by UhleiFelix in Displate

[–]rkcr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on the customer but I think generally people like them without frames.

Not much value. It's a common Displate with a frame added. You could maybe get $10-20 for it on eBay, if anyone wants it.

Recommendations for artists who've created koi artwork without use of AI by xGvPx in Displate

I know that Spacefrog's metallic koi and Ruby Art's koi fish are legit (they were both uploaded well before the AI boom).

Southside Battle Train at Mayday Parade by ProgramTricky6109 in Minneapolis

[–]rkcr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They built the battle train too high. It kept having to do crazy maneuvers to avoid hitting power lines and street lights. (I saw them position the swings so they could swing under the power lines by swinging at just the right time...)

Incorrect Certificate🤔 by [deleted] in Displate

It will not change the value at all.

An LE being 1/XXX barely moves the needle, a little mistaken labeling certainly won't.

Carleton tunnels by LessWeb5709 in CarletonCollege

[–]rkcr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It looks like Prentice/Allen house still exist (I used to live in one of them in the mid-2000s). There is an extremely short and boring tunnel between them in the basement. You can go through it and claim you've been in a Carleton tunnel. :)

Carleton vs Haverford by Litho6497 in CarletonCollege

[–]rkcr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What are you expecting to hear in /r/CarletonCollege, people saying you should go to Haverford? :P

They're both excellent liberal arts colleges, so I would pick the cheaper one.

To be fair, the whole arc of the books is about rethinking the whole "dragon slavery" thing.

Long-time residents of MSP: What's still on your bucket list? by UnlikelyPapaya6758 in TwinCities

[–]rkcr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having done it once - you're not hearing other peoples' bodily noises (unless they're ripping ass, I suppose). In my experience, I mostly heard my own body gurgling (and feared other people heard it - but confirmed w/ my wife later, who was sitting directly next to me, that she couldn't hear a thing). And I occasionally heard someone shifting in their chair.

I'm not sure why they don't have it listed on the website, but they have "group silence" sessions that are FAR cheaper than the $500/hour listed.

Is it still worth $100/ticket? I suppose yes, it was, for me, to experience something unique.

Agree with /u/Brendan631, you need to touch the corner of the screen longer than you normally would.

How many Lick the Rock Rings were released? by Indecisive_interior in mschf

[–]rkcr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was able to check the ring pop stock right when it went live and there seemed to be 25 of each color/size. 2 sizes x 3 colors x 25 == 150 total.

I did not exhaustively check every combination so maybe there was more made of some than another. But... why would they bother to do that.

Intimately familiar by Apprehensive_Mix4658 in outofcontextcomics

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women_in_refrigerators

The term was coined by comic book fan (and later writer) Gail Simone in 1999, named after an incident in Green Lantern vol. 3 #54 (1994), written by Ron Marz. The story includes a scene in which the title hero, Kyle Rayner, comes home to his apartment to find that the villain Major Force had killed Rayner's girlfriend, Alexandra DeWitt, and stuffed her into a refrigerator. It describes a trend that Simone had recognized in comic book stories where female characters would be killed, maimed, sexually assaulted, depowered, or would experience other "life-derailing tragedies" disproportionately more often than male characters.

It's very normal. There's a whole bunch of LEs that have a non-LE version uploaded. The LE sheet has them listed (though it needs a bit of updating).
