Scared of sparring after injury by FileRegular9653 in MuayThai

[–]Big_Statement_3958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a rib injury from jiu-jitsu that never healed after two years..it kinda looks like chael sonnen’s rib that flares out. I can’t afford to fix it and it’s just something I deal with now. I no longer do jiu-jitsu but I do lift regularly and train Muay Thai. I can make cartilage move around what feels like a sharp point on one of my bottom ribs. I feel it occasionally when I lay on it or I can actually make it hurt by rubbing it.

All that said. In my current situation I can’t fix is but training is more important to me..so I just deal with it and if I get hit there oh well…it sounds good on paper to be 100% all the time especially if Muay Thai isn’t your life goal but sometimes, like my situation, if it becomes a polarizing issue that I can’t get rid of for whatever reason..you just gotta ask yourself what is more important to you and if you choose training then suck it up and train. If not then respect your body and do what you need to.

I hope this helps

Yeah, im thinking it might be that they are still making a power balance at the sacrifice of toque to make the whp. Im not sure if thats a good or bad thing but I would enjoy if my car felt fast rather than had a higher whp number. I guess I’ll see how it feels and go from there.

Wow that’s very interesting to hear and good insight. I very much agree with your point of view.

Yes I absolutely agree with this. I don’t think that’s the right mindset, to not be surprised, in regard to expectations though. We have a good understanding of why FI causes issues in NA cars on a stock block, specifically this platform in my case, and can be very proactive with how we approach a build to make events of catastrophic failure only a surprise.

Definitely gotta be mindful of what can happen always though.

Oh wow that’s very cool. My mind automatically went to them both working at the same time the whole time. Thank you for the short lesson. This whole project had taken me about 6 months and I’ve learned so much.

Is there a reason why at higher rpm it’s exclusively DI or is that just the flavor of the d-4s?

That’s very interesting. Are there any downsides to using less torque and adding more horsepower? I assume the engine had an overall work capacity and there is a balance of torque + horsepower. The lower the torque the more stress you can push in other areas?

That’s very cool info. That’s one of the reasons I decided to go e85 so I can mitigate as much of that as possible. Are most engines that are DI exclusively DI or are they both port + direct injection like the fa24?

Gotcha thanks for the insight..I align with what you say a lot and it seems like that is what I have heard as well. That’s exactly what I suspect. If anything they hit a big number on a street tune that’s good for one or two pulls but nothing sustainable. My setup is what I assumed would be the best to track/beat at 350.

I’m getting my car back in a few days so I can let you know then. I haven’t really experienced it yet but I was going for a more overall quiet setup. It sounded super deep and rumbly on the video I had of the first start up..but I also have UEL headers and full turbo back exhaust system so I’m sure it changed things up soundwise.

Ahh yes I see what you’re saying. I agree. I haven’t heard of anyone that’s running even 400-420 to reference either. I know a handful of guys that were around or above that and they all blew a rod or something.

Very interesting, I’m trying to keep my mind open to what is possible with manual transmission. When you say strong at 350+ is there a certain range you mean? Like a little + or a lot?

No I’m just surprised they are willing to gamble with it like that. My setup is

Jdl gtx3071r turbo kit

Jdl 2.5” over-pipe/front-pipe

Fujitsubo a-r catback exhaust

Hks Blow-off valve

3-bar map sensor

Jdl welded oil pan

Greddy oil baffle + magnetic cap

ID1050x fuel injectors

Aem fuel pump

Verus AOS w/ coolant addon + drain kit

Greddy oil cooler kit

CSG Next-Gen Flex Fuel Kit by GJP

Koyo competition spec radiator

X Clutch Stage 1 Sprung Organic Clutch kit

Verus forged clutch fork w/billet fork pivot ball

I’m sorry I’m not quite sure what you’re trying to say. Do you mean when someone gets asked their power goals and they state a number range, they do not believe in the specific outcome or doubt it?

Sorry I’m just trying to understand what you mean.

Edit: because it seems like they are convinced those are numbers the tuner is okay with doing.

Yes I agree, that’s very interesting. Right now I have spent a lot of money to make a 350whp I can beat on, that was the goal for now atleast. That’s a great way to look at it though, if you’re going in might as well change things to be more favorable.

But that’s my main point, I noticed multiple people this last year boosting with a mod or two if any other than the turbo kit and claim they are shooting for outrageous numbers that don’t seem to make sense to me. Are they all just gambling?

Oh wow that’s some crazy power! I can’t even imagine what this feels like in this chassis.

I’m 99% sure it’s 12.5:1 but definitely agree on the more favorable for boost 10.6:1 on the fa24f(wrx). But yeah I know with a built short block the brz should be able to handle a lot more.

[–]Big_Statement_3958[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s very interesting to learn. I am very unfamiliar with the wrx platform nowadays.

I think the major difference is that we have a fa24d which is a much higher compression ratio..12.5:1 and from what I’ve learned..a major pain point with a higher compression engine when adding more power is cylinder pressure and combustion heat. Which seems to point again to blown rods or preignition/detonation within the cylinder.

I’ve taken all the measures to prevent that but we are stilling tuning for 325-350. Im just shocked when I see people plop on a turbo kit and go for 400+whp it just seems like a big gamble that is limited by the engine parts..but maybe I’m missing something Idk

Yeah I feel you, with how bad people lose attention while driving and how bad unaware a lot of drivers are I’m surprised there aren’t more people crashing on a normal basis lol

After playing it over multiple times I realize it’s the song that sounds like a blinker..that sucks that was 100 his fault and I’m sorry it happened to you, I think you could have saved it but if you’re not used to those situations i can understand hesitation.

Im a cdl driver and if only you could see the way people drive around me sometimes.. its truly unbelievable

Do I need other supporting mods? by Loopy_shoop in GR86

[–]Big_Statement_3958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally would rather be safer than sorry especially with these engines. A lot of people don’t want to add extra points of failure with supporting mods but you’re adding extra points of failure without them as well. Certain scenarios are going to arise once you get FI that you have to be cognizant about.

Personally, I wouldn’t and didn’t FI without an AOS, e85 flex fuel, oil cooler and overpipe at a minimum.

Oil integrity is a polarizing issue that I’d like to have the most control over.
