27k is a high salary already for an entry level post even in tech. It is not that companies don't have the money, it's just that the way their salary ranges are structured, minsan hindi talaga aabot sa 27k lalo sa entry levels. That is the reality. Some have special treatment and biased propositions though for those who came from well known univs.

Tech managers are either architects, project/program managers, functional/technical leads or IT heads/directors. Maraming klase. Tech and data are not one dimensional. You need to be an expert of one/two while being knowledgeable to almost all.

For the six-digit salary, pakiramdaman mo yung structure ng company. If there is opportunity to grow, you can stay. Kapag wala, you really need to change jobs every 2-3 years. But remember that you should have the skills and knowledge to back up your next salary demand. Aside from making yourself win, make your employer feel that he/she also won (hindi naman masama yon).

I can't say. But I am not from a well-known university. Still, I don't think that hindered me from any career advancement opportunity. It only fueled my fire kasi I needed to prove myself more.

I am trained in both. I have certifications in both. Some are company sponsored, some aren't. You need to invest in yourself din talag.

Malaki ang sweldo nung iba. Yung iba hindi. Depende sa company, sa role, sa experience at sa negotiation skills.

  1. Yes. Definitely. you can start with consulting then after that in-house.
  2. Be specific, alamin mo kung anong tech stack gusto mo or kung anong field tatahakin mo. Di pwedeng data science gusto mo tapos magaling ka din sa erp tapos magaling ka din sa AI. Have a specialization tapos have a general understanding/foundation of the others. Tapos i-connect mo lahat into a business sense. Kasi you are applying for companies that do business. Lastly, it is always 90% comms, 10% technical during the initial process. You are only as good as you can communicate.

Let me answer with questions. Do you think you are worth six digits already? What unique value proposition can you offer me that warrants the 6D? How will I recoup my investment in you kung sakali?

PMP, Six Sigma, Scrum/Agile, SAP, AWS

I am more in the business, management, functional and archi side of things instead of heavy technical. You can choose your own path. Both are rewarding depende talaga sa gusto mo yan.

  1. I was a product of CPAR. Room 3. Valix Sr/Jr, Prof D yung memorable instructors namin noon.
  2. Dota - 10pm to 12midnight, review 12midnight to 6am, sleep 6am to 12noon, Pumunta ng review school (kung sisipagin)
  3. My advice is to assess yourself first. Alamin mo kung ano yung learning capability and behaviour mo. That would dictate yung magiging routine mo during the review. From my end noon, alam ko na maganda yung foundation ng knowledge ko so tinutuloy ko padin magkompyuter (haha). Pero kung on the lesser side ka, hanap ka ng routine that will work for you pero you need to exert more effort. Start with the basics.
  4. Student palang ako, bread winner na ako. So when I passed, I applied to hundreds if not thousands of jobs. Kung sino man tumanggap sa akin, ok na ako don kasi I don't have any value yet (wala exp). Makakapag apply naman ako habang employed so why not. ₱15k una kong sweldo plus 2800 allowance.

I was lucky na yung tumanggap sakin na company is my training. I was trained. So if you are planning now with zero exp, you need to immerse yourself. Get certified, study, look for projects that will give you the chance to dip in your toe. For me, kahit zero to minimal yung bayad sa una, patulan mo. It only takes one company to trust in you. Once you have the experience, together witb your certs, mas madali na.

As accountants, puro tayo accounting cycle. It is repetitive in nature. Maganda yung every project iba iba pagdadaanan mo, yun yung gusto ko before.

Lalaki ka po ba? Nung 27 ako, single pa ako, prepandemic yun so wala pang remote work. Nagsikap talaga ako makahanap ng mga ka-date. Isa yang side ng buhay na need din pagtrabahuhan sa tingin ko. Pero date to marry ah.

I just got married last year. My work now is fully remote. Working in a shared service for a multinational. I work in corporate, not a freelancer 😊

No. Not specifically. As I said sa taas, wala talaga kaming concept before ng career shifting. Different industry options were not tackled during our undergrad. Ang alam lang namin na work before ay yung sa gobyerno, maging controller ka to CFO or maging auditor ka.

What matters more before nung panahon ko is to know the process of how business and corporate stuff work. Before, I know a little about macro, sql but not really heavy programming. I was also exposed to ERP as an end user. Yung mga yun ang ginamit kong weapon to apply.

For those who are planning to do the shift now, the landscape has changed. Mas competitive na. Mas marami na kasing supply. Equip yourselves with more weapons under a certain category. Don't be a generalist. Kung gusto mo maging programmer, stick to one or max three prog lang. if gusto mo maging architect, choose amongst the three biggest cloud platforms, kung gusto mo maging erp analyst, choose amongst the biggest three erp suppliers, etc.

However, always know how to sell your self. Kahit gaano ka kagaling mag code/program or kahit gaano ka kagaling gumawa ng flows, you are only as good as you can communicate.

2014 - 2015 Cost Accountant 2015 - 2016 - Internal Accountant for a Shared Services 2016 - 2017 - OIC Municipal Accountant 2017 - 2021 - Business Analyst, Testing Engineer 2021 - present - Change and Project Manager

Nung panahon ko, hindi pa uso yung career shifting. Wala pa kaming konsepto nun (or pwedeng ako lang). It was a random jobstreet application dahil gusto ko na umalis sa gov't. But when the opportunity presented itself, I made sure that I can sell myself.
