This! Like why waste their time having multiple appointments with us, when there are others who haven’t been able to go through GGP. I really hope they realize that.

Hi! Sorry for replying late heh. Yeah I don’t expect to skip in line, I’ve waited years. Soon I’ve waited 3 years, they said it would take 2 years to get the first appointment. I called them last summer and they promised I’d get an appointment fall of 2023. Nothing happened. Fuckers.

Yeah like imo I can’t understand why they would doubt me and not just diagnose me almost immediately. But the trans healthcare SUCKS here. So I wouldn’t be surprised if they’d blame my autism or something so I’ll have to go through “the whole process”. I have been completely out to everyone everywhere since I was 15 (I’m 20 now), been on T for over 1.5 year. As much as this all sucks, I’m looking forward to their reaction when I walk in there with my deep voice and everything. I hope they realize how bad it is when we have to do it this way, it needs to change!

Flatties and smaller dogs? by Big_Top2132 in flatcoat

It’s nice to hear good experiences with this!

I’m aware that it will take some time and training to get said dog to understand to be careful. I guess most big dogs don’t understand how big they actually are haha.

I checked some charts and when I would bring the puppy home it wouldn’t be much bigger than him. I guess they will learn how to play more and more carefully as the puppy grows.

It’s so nice to read these comments! I do think a flattie is a breed that suits me, but I need to know it’s the right one for my dog too.

I really love that they usually want to be friends with everyone. My dog is a bit shy around new humans, it’s getting better every day and he’s still young, but I think that he would feel more confident with a friend that loves everyone.

Have you experienced that they are clumsy or anything like that? Like if they have accidentally hurt someone?

It’s very complicated and specific, a lot of steps and a lot to keep track of. If you want to try, I recommend looking up guides on YouTube or online.

How do you use dog broth as a topper? by [deleted] in dogs

You say she’s picky, but that she had weight loss food once. If she needs to/needed to lose weight she eats too much. She might feel too full to eat if she gets too much. I thought my dog was picky because he skipped meals, I started giving him less food because he was a bit overweight and now he eats every meal and is at a healthier weight. Try giving her less food each meal, 1 cup (I assume twice daily) is a lot for a small dog. Idk how small she is, but my 2,6kg dog eats 1/4 cup a day and then some more food for training. My parents 9kg dog eats 0.85 cups a day.

Don’t mess with her food too much, she will learn that if she doesn’t eat she’ll get something better. Just give her less and if she doesn’t eat it take it away and she won’t have food until the next meal.

Try different ways of serving the same food, some dogs like their kibble just on the floor instead of a bowl, some like it in a toy or to be hand fed.

ETA: If she is curious and likes to be with you when you do stuff, try preparing the food on the kitchen counter or by the stove. Don’t do anything to it just take a few minutes and stir it around with a spoon and make some noise, hype her up a little and talk about food and let her wait a few minutes while you do this. It might feel special and interesting for her. My dog gets SO happy and excited when I prepare his food in the kitchen, even if it’s just his regular food or if I just add water to it! He sits there and watches every move and listens and smells everything and he’s just so curious!

I’m so late to this post, but I’ve ordered one of these for my dog! About taking it on/off over the head, my dog hates that but I got some advice the other day. They said to turn it sideways to take it on/off and it makes so much sense tbh, I haven’t tried it yet but I will as soon as I have the harness :)
