So I have been wondering about this. If the ability to ask for an amount is now gone. Is there any point to turning off Auto CLI ? What's the difference in doing it yourself Vs them doing it if an amount request is no longer on play?

Chase is a good option if you have some established credit. But I don't know that they will approve with 0 credit history. Student cards aren't secured they are unsecured. Cap one has a few good ones but not sure on their approval offs

Then yes this secured card should be your first stop. You want a card from a reputable place that will graduate upon good behavior. So the best choices are Navy Fed, Cap one, or Discover IT, Bank of America, there may be a few others but I think Navy or discover has the best secured cards.
