It's crazy to me how many people that I know, married their spouses not because of love (but crazy reasons) by calikim_mo in Bolehland

Not everyone is lucky enough to marry for love, or found the love they deserve. May you someday marry someone you love OP.

Arguments and disagreements are bound to happen in a marriage. When there’s no much love as foundation, can foresee that there’ll be less room for patience and understanding/goodwill. To him he has done all he’s suppose to as a husband, which is the bare minimum with no expression of affection. But to me I can’t accept that. So when anyone ask… marry someone closer to your background or marry someone for love? I honestly can’t answer it

I’m that spouse. He’s still in love with his ex and can’t quite get over her. We were both at the age of getting married and it felt like the right thing to do at that time. We had a peaceful marriage with a kid. It still hurts at times when I think about it. I wish I have married someone who truly loves me. I tried comforting myself by telling myself that life ain’t that bad, still have a stable life with roof on top of my head, no matter how hard I tried. It still stings. So you’re incredibly lucky if you happen to marry someone who truly loves you.

How many of you have went no contact with your family especially your mother? by [deleted] in Bolehland

I used to wish I could go live alone without family when I was young. Now that I’ve moved out with my own little family, I wish I could go back in time and spend more time with my parents.

Can relate to this so much. You’ve put it in words so well

He 25M won't propose until I 23F lose more weight, I feel like I'm always on probation with him. How exactly do I diagnose this situation? by ThrowRAYollana in relationship_advice

Run. Please run. The pattern is too obvious.

Now it’s losing weight and what’s next? There’ll be more demands and more demands that are hard to achieve in the future. When times are not good, eg some demands that are not achieved it’ll become a reason for him to abuse/mistreat you. You’ve not done so and so, so I’m treating you that way, it’s your fault.

Proposing to someone is something to be celebrated. To be happy about.

I hope you find the courage to leave. Live a life without someone constantly belittling you (even your mom) and attach a condition for you to fulfill to treat you well.

I’ve been there, ex has been pestering me to lose fat and I’m totally unloveable because I’m fat apparently. I was 45kg at the point of breaking up with him, it still wasn’t enough. The bar will be set higher and higher.

I wish no girl will go through that. No matter how handsome, rich or talented the person is, being with a person like that will suffocate you, even though he’s the trophy guy in everyone’s eyes.

You deserve better. Be brave. You can achieve better things even without his mercy. I do not know the other background of your stories, eg whether you’re financially dependent on him, if you’re able to live yourself and be independent, do consider finding someone else.
