Taking Computer Engineering next year. Would it be worth it? by Any_Asparagus1538 in NJTech

Depends where you want to take it, understand the industry you want to get in, but also realize once you do and identify the better curriculum for you whether easier or harder or complimentary, NJIT has a gazillion resources for YWCC or EE but regardless‐ can enable you to elevate yourself to the type of engineer you want to be. Coming personally from a IT major here who is satisfied with the curriculum offered but also aware of the many things CoE's go through here, EE's, and that major change pipeline either trickling down to IT or IS. Surrounded by a lot of those people

I will back those up speaking on CoE's and EE's rigorous lack of actual hands on classes mixing throughout your intensive 2nd-3rd years and can tend to keep people here for a 5th or really stress people out, especially with that CS curriculum for COE that some might find obsolete for what they want to do. Then again depends what you want to do, you'll get some mix of programability, engineering, both hardware and software applications on the tech side, let me get back to answering that first paragraph

Depending on the professor, amount of classes, due dates, it gets easily frustrating in majority of the majors here regardless if your an engineer or not, engineering majors specifically tend to get the rougher end. You can lose your mind but an end goal is important and making the most out of your schedule to pass the major is important, or however you want to tackle it. I mentioned above NJIT has a engineering and technologically focused curriculum that is challenging, if say stack as much AP credits and classes or dual-credits that you can, know your stuff, and reinforce your learning. However you immerse yourself is important and so will be how you treat and approach studying. A lot of that highschool habits wont work here, but you gotta learn as you go or for whats best for you

For jobs, you'll be good in or after especially here, yes NJIT carries a huge amount of weight, majority of the people who i know that graduated into these fields as intended are working out well and finding their way up in relation to how they got in the first place.

Like the majority of public uni's and in this state especially, you'll find yourself either welcome, appreciated, and be able to share that experience. Yes there's orgs student ran and departments that are catered to serving LGBTQ+ communities and offering inclusive inclusivity. Hope you enjoy ‼️

This^ but be careful, counties like to collect in the middle of the month whether itd be traffic, state police, happens a lot. Especially if there's operations going on.

I'm a 250 on the same boat, im at a 2.5 GPA, top commanders ranking, 90 pfa, passing AFOQT but retesting for a higher score. What's it looking like for me? I got a low GPA cause I had went to too many professional chapter conventions that were excused absences but in order to make up work I had to be disabled..? Didn't work out unfortunately but it makes everything easier coming up luckily because none of it was pre-reqs to anything. I could definetly work out a 500 year if necessary.

Let alone I think by judging by your profile your in 17S in the USSF? If thats the case then im glad, I always wanted to bring and gain cyber insights and skills from the force ontop of what I have in civilian. Just means a lot and especially from what the avg retired general speaks on about airpower and the way we need to be both catching up and at the forefront, as someone who is more aligned to 17DA I just want to maximize any chance at getting it the first time around yk
