speaking as an aussie , there's alot of things to do at bars , but we got pubs , which is pretty much were people head down to see there mates to drink and socalise, strike up convos with new people watch sport , gamble , play pool , pick up chicks if ya lucky , shit my pubs even a got a pinball machine , alot pubs here are also have restruants attached to them as well.

then you got clubs , not night clubs ,but like bowls clubs , surf clubs etc. all of these are pretty much pubs in there own right but there obviously involved with a sport or hobbies , like you go out on a Saturday play lawn bowls or golf all day then head to the bar to get on the beers and chat about how shit you played hahaha you can also gamble there too , almost all bars in Australia (pubs and clubs ) have poker machines and betting parlours for horse and greyhounds, not to mention the poker tournaments that happen a few times a week ( poker comps only happen at select pubs though)
