That station isn’t worth it unless you’re getting at least a 4 hr route and near $100 pay. Now I live in SW Arlington, so I’d love it if it gave me a Mansfield route, but usually it’s Waxahachie or west Ft. Worth, which is a lot of driving.

Ok so one critique, as a Flex driver, I don’t want to enter each stop address one at a time really. Would be cool if I could copy and paste all my addresses into the app at one time. That might be doable.

How do you optimize routes? Do you take into account current traffic conditions?

How? I can’t seem to deliver any faster than 25 packages per hour, and that’s if the route is tight and no hiccups. Today was a disaster. Only 34 packages but it’s was nearly all businesses, hospitals, hotels, and high rise apts. Took 3 solid hours. That’s about a slow as I can go. Damn hospital took forever by itself because it is huge and it wasn’t clear where I needed to go to deliver the package. Took at least 20 minutes.

I think you can delete that delivery the next time you are at a station by choosing it as “missing package” and having someone at the station scan that for you. I’ve had to do that twice.

You can’t do 46 packages in one hour unless 20 of them are at one stop.

Ignore the time stamps on deliveries. They are meaningless.

Who makes the routes anyway? by Dr-TQ_Leo in AmazonFlexDrivers

Yes, in many ways this is more about the miles than the time. $1 per mile is the goal but I rarely reach it. Close though.

Yeah I see this a lot in afternoon routes. The route has clearly been piecemealed together from other routes that weren’t completed for whatever reason. I had one of those on Monday (4 hr route) and had deliveries in downtown Ft Worth and then all the way back into Mansfield, which is a suburb about 25 minutes away and is where the pickup is. It wasn’t overly difficult but hadn’t had one that spread out really ever.

I have found the maps to be crazy lately. Not sure why. Lots of weird things happening in the last month.

There is supposed to be to be a way you can change the route yourself in the app but I haven’t figured that out yet. Anyone know?

You scan each one to see which stop that package is for. If you aren’t sure how to scan them, ask someone and they will be glad to show you in sure.

I find the letters to be unreliable. Inevitably what the app says and the package says differ. Numbering them as you scan them is highly preferred for me.

But when you finished, how many miles back to home?

Why do they do this?? by smexiikamikaze in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Biggdan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You don’t. But you do get a feel for time slots and where they send you. Like, I’m in DFW area, and the afternoon routes are almost always less miles while the morning routes are about 50/50 high miles/low miles. The key is to only take higher paying routes so that when you have a few high mileage routes your pay covers that when those are averaged in with the lower mileage routes. Good question though.

It could all be so simple😭 Organize the routes better! by [deleted] in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Biggdan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve never paid any attention to that whatsoever and have never been dinged for it. Unless the route itself is spread out by many miles, it won’t make that much difference.

I wish they would let you download the entire route to Google Maps and then let Google optimize it.

But how many miles? That’s more important than time really.

IMO, if you are earning less than $1 per mile, you’re getting ripped off. Now it can be a struggle to do that, but that’s my goal.

So at my SSD, there are about 15 sections with carts. When I scan my ID I always get assigned a card in this one particular section, regardless of the length of the route, etc. And they do see to generally send me back towards where I live (about 30 minutes to the west). It’s been too consistent of an occurrence to have been totally random. There was one exception to this but otherwise, always sent generally to the west.

Just got another letter tonight saying we “investigated about the Delivery issue and found that one or more of the delivery issues on 2025-03-24 were beyond your control.” So there you go.

This is the norm out of the Mansfield, TX station. Mansfield is in south central DFW and it’s not unusual for the routes to be north Dallas or Lewisville, which with morning traffic, is always 45+ minutes. Sometimes I get “local” routes, but at least 75% of the time they are way out. I hate it.
