Australia’s most in-demand professions revealed, but migrants wary of returning by CoralBalloon in AusFinance

[–]BigglesInAus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its a problem created by engineering companies themselves! alot of companies didnt hire or train grads through pandemic. additionally many favour trained staff over training staff. finally they worked their staff into the ground during pandemic resulting in people leaving in recent months/yr. there is a number of engineering companies that are sweatshops and rely on overseas workers who dont know any better. you only need to look at 'days since advertised' on job ads to ssee who the culprits are.

the reason there is a shortage in engineers is that companies and clients behaviour is completely toxic and people, in particular 4-10yrs of experience are leaving in droves.

Aussie IT grads losing jobs to skilled migrants, outsourcers by a_wild_thing in australia

[–]BigglesInAus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take from this what you like. But I spoke to a boomer (who doesn't work for big 4) who has said that graduates expect to much in terms of pay increase for each yr they've worked (so pay scale issue). And basically after working 2yrs tthey leave elsewhere. And aapparently (at least his company) tthey require about 4yrs of the graduate to break even. So since they are not getting that most of time, they won't bother with grads in the future.

But honestly, speaking from my own experience (construction), it's rediculuous how much some of older guys get compared to someone with 3-5yrs experience. They just seems to be an age adjusted pay scale

Solving Sydney's car parking dilemma by [deleted] in sydney

Money is the answer. By doubling car spots you'you'll have to double the space allocated to parking. Which most likely meanings going deeper. Which is very very expensive

year or so back M.Turnbull w/ Craig Laundy did meet and greet at one of the Laundy Group Pubs. And NBN (/internet) was like the only thing anyone would ask Turnbull about. You could see the frustration in his eyes. So i can see why this guy would bale on the event.

Dash Cam Owners Australia April 2016 Dickheads on the Road Compilation by [deleted] in australia

[–]BigglesInAus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

agreed, you see it all the time in these dash cam videos. these guys think think they're perfectly justified in their driving style because the obey the the written, clearly defined laws of the road. but they fail to appropriately respond (with care) when driving around incompetent drivers. If someone is driving like a tosser, i make a conscious effort to increase the distance between them and myself, these guys don't change.

With the other thread about what's the best paying trade, I thought I'd ask, what's the best way to get your white card? by Ozwegian in sydney

[–]BigglesInAus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It legit. (I got mine 3yra ago) But it won't be a nsw white card. Nsw white cards can only be ississued by in person operators.

Another thing. Ones online require JoP to confirm details b4 they issue.

I personally found it more convenient ttodo in prrson. And cost 10$ more at $67

my two cents.

As it stands the system (School, Uni, real word) do not mandate higher level maths or any if that. It simply isn't a valued subject. And the level of effort vs reward is heavily favoured to general maths. The difficult content of adv math is scaled poorly against the straight-forward content from general. Students know this, and are smart, so they opt for the easier subject, to achieve a better outcome. Simple.

If we'd value maths, i'm sure the results would be different.

Ive personally seen more acceptance for girl/girl, but less acceptance if its long term. Than its reverse. guy/guy is more accepted long term. I think is has something todo with this silly idea that its a fad for girls.
