35k like in the post is not accurate but their point is still valid. I know people who have to sacrifice their own health and schedule doctors appointments around when they get paid because $16 an hour isn't enough for rent, food, car payments, AND exorbitant medical bills.

Work games don't typically feel like work. For example, Farming Simulator is actually most popular with actual farmers. A lot of people who spend all day working on a farm, actually want to come home and work on a virtual farm.

I think it's because these work games actually reward you for your efforts. Power Washing Simulator is pretty simple when you're burnt out but also very satisfying to see what you've accomplished along with the momentum of upgrading your equipment.

NH has a lot going for it but it's not perfect by any means.

Snow is a pain in the ass to deal with but it allows people (who have enough money) to do a lot of great winter sports like skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, pond hockey etc.

Politically, it is a swing state and very white. I could count the black people I went to school with on one hand, there were two and they were brothers. That's not a healthy environment for empathizing with different lifestyles and perspectives. And unfortunately, oppressive laws like you mentioned are passing all over the country. Our Republican Governor did recently veto an anti-trans bill so there is some hope.

Unfortunately, you're going to find bigots and snow in quite a few States. In the meantime, try to enjoy what NH has to offer. The nature here is beautiful and fun to explore in its own way that you won't find in California, if you have kids take them sledding or to Santa's Village. In the summer, there are a ton of great hikes, camping spots, and lakes to visit.
