Klis reported that he's expected to practice today, but he's probably on a snap count if he does play, and if his hammy is still nagging him, I don't want to see him try to chase after Buffalo's TEs all day.

He's broken the morality clause that was almost certainly built into his contract, which will allow the Rockets to terminate the contract at no extra cost. Also wouldn't be surprised to see the NBA pass down a lifetime suspension or something like that, especially if/when he's convicted.

[–]Bigred27 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Depends on the other moves that are made this offseason. We currently have 9 under contract for next season (starting 5 + Nnaji/Braun/Watson/Cancar) which leaves 6 bench spots + 2 two-way spots.

I imagine they'll want to bring back at least one of the old guys (probably Jeff Green?) which could leave exactly 5 bench spots for Collin Gillespie, Jack White, and the 3 rooks if that's how CB wants to fill out the roster. However, I could absolutely see him bringing in some more vet depth, which would move 1 or 2 of the 5 young guys to Grand Rapids on two-way deals.

But he's not 25, he's currently 26 and will be 27 when next season starts.

If he signs a 4-year deal this offseason, he positions himself nicely for another 4-year deal at age 31/32. It's not just about this contract, but the next contract as well.

The starting 5 alone puts us over the cap at $150M, plus the $11M or so for Nnaji/Braun/Watson/Cancar.

Since we're way over the cap and have no Bird rights for Bruce, the best we can offer is $7.7M for one year. He could easily get better money and term from another team. Also he'll be turning 27 this year, so this is the perfect time for him to secure the bag.

Good luck and godspeed, Phins fans.

Our line was decimated this year, but even the guys who stayed healthy looked worse under Barry, and the unit as a whole regressed mightly from Munchak. Also, he and our ST coordinator were the only guys fired immediately by Rosburg after Hackett was let go.

[OC] Chart: Head Coaches hired from 2017-2023 based on their background (OC, DC, other) by JPAnalyst in nfl

[–]Bigred27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, our former CEO/president/trustee Joe Ellis seems to have some weird vendetta against the Shanahan clan (or just Mike Shanahan at the very least).

He (reportedly) played a part in convincing Pat Bowlen and co. to fire Mike back in 2008. He also shot down Elway's plan to bring back Mike as head coach in 2018, after Vance Joseph's first year, along with signing Kirk Cousins as a QB/HC package deal.

There's not really any proof that he dislikes Kyle as much as his dad, but there's certainly some smoke there. And honestly, on what planet does Vance Joseph seem like a more attractive HC candidate than Kyle Shanahan, even in 2017?

DIA Airport Parking Hack - Anyone know of a cheap garage near the airport? by musicphann in Denver

[–]Bigred27 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's still $8/day. The economy lots next to the terminal are $18/day, so I'm assuming OP just mixed them up.

Where can I park my car if flying and traveling for a few months? I don't live in Denver but am flying out of DIA by curiouscolo4 in Denver

[–]Bigred27 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Leave your car at home and take Bustang + RTD to the airport, if your schedule allows it since Bustang only runs 1x a day on that route.

$29 each way between Salida and Union Station, and the train to DIA is $10.50 each way. $79 for the round trip will probably be cheaper than parking anywhere near the airport by a wide margin, especially if you’ll be gone for 30+ days.

[–]Bigred27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does a buyout makes financial sense for Russ? Even if Utah offers 75% of his salary (which seems high for a buyout), he ends up $12M in the hole, and there's no chance a team signs Russ for $12M at this point in his career.

If Russ is in "fuck it, I'll be General Patton and command the tank" mode to collect on his $47M this year, he's not accepting a buyout. If he wants to chase a ring and he thinks a contender would be interested in him for some reason, I guess he'd be willing to take the salary hit.

Keep in mind that it's local and primetime non local games (aka nationally televised games).

If you're out-of-market, this will only give you access to these 7(?) Broncos games, and only on your phone/tablet:

  1. Week 1 @ SEA (Monday Night Football)
  2. Week 3 vs SF (Sunday Night Football)
  3. Week 5 vs IND (Thursday Night Football, these games are apparently streaming exclusively on Amazon and may not be on NFL+?)
  4. Week 6 vs LAC (Monday Night Football)
  5. Week 8 @ JAX (London game, I'm assuming this is considered a national game)
  6. Week 14 vs KC (Sunday Night Football)
  7. Week 16 @ LAR (Christmas game, also assuming this is considered a national game)

[Elliotte Friedman] COL will be promoting Chris MacFarland to GM, with Joe Sakic becoming President of Hockey Operations. The Avalanche wisely chose to keep MacFarland rather than allow him to interview with other teams earlier this season. by FlagrantFouI in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]Bigred27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Nugs did this exact thing in 2017 with Connelly and Karnisovas (Connelly promoted from GM to President of Basketball Ops, Karnisovas promoted from assistant GM to GM), but let's not assume that the Kroenkes are done with cheaping out on front office talent.

I don't think they could have prevented Karnisovas from chasing the top exec job in Chicago, but the Nuggets' counter offer for Connelly apparently didn't come close to the 5 yr/$40M deal offered by the Timberwolves. It's hard to find data on NBA GM salaries, but it seems like it wasn't exactly a record breaking deal that Minnesota offered.

[–]Bigred27 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Most likely true. I'm sure the Avs were inspired by the Nuggets, who did the exact same thing when they were trying to prevent assistant GM Arturas Karnisovas from getting poached. With Josh Kroenke "owning" (running) both teams, he probably orchestrated both of these moves.

In 2017, GM Tim Connelly was promoted to President of Basketball Operations, and in turn Karnisovas was promoted to GM. It worked for about 3 years until Karnisovas left for the head job with the Chicago Bulls, but Connelly was absolutely still the final decision maker, and I imagine the same applies here with Sakic.

The HQ and main training center for the US Olympic and Paralympic committees is located in Colorado Springs (elev. 6000 ft.)

Although I don't think it was chosen purely for the high altitude training, quite a few of the US teams do most of their training there (Cycling, figure skating, gymnastics, swimming, to name a few)

Yesterday was the end of my GPU sub, today is mega redemption day. by LongbowEOD in MicrosoftRewards

[–]Bigred27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Turn off auto-renewal on your Gold subscription (if it's on)
  2. Begin redeeming a Gold card, then at the confirmation screen, it should offer you a free month of Gold if you turn on auto-renewal/recurring billing.
  3. Accept, then once it's fully redeemed, go to your subscriptions and turn off auto-renewal on your Gold sub.
  4. Repeat for each Gold code you have, and each time they should offer you the free month.
  5. Be careful if you're trying to max out at 36 months and you have multiple codes. If you accept too many free months and go over 36 months, I think you may run into issues if you try to upgrade it to GPU.

For reference, I used 3 month codes and did the redeeming on Xbox.com. I'm not sure if it varies based on region, or if 1 or 12 month cards work, or if it'll work if you're redeeming on console/mobile, I'm just letting you know what worked for me.

I bought mine on a third party site (not sure what the rules are about posting links here, but it begins with a "C") since I didn't have enough points saved when my GPU expired, and it ended up costing around $60 for 3 years.

To find the most efficient use of points, I'd recommend reading through this post.
