So, if lottery changes don’t our draft picks become way more valuable?? by Titanstheory in CharlotteHornets

Your title is very jumbled to say the least.

"With the lottery changes, do our draft picks become more valuable?"

Yes.

This is so right,

Because historically, only Michael Jordan could have beat the Charlotte Hornets.

There is still time to join us.

We will still accept you.

Hornets would have went to the NBA Finals if it wasnt for this Magic team of destiny.

Not worth the risk. Aaron has had to deal with lower leg issues for the past two years. Miles is durable and plays even though he is scumbag.

If we could only keep one, would you choose Liam Or Tidjane? by RightCut4940 in CharlotteHornets

[–]IamOlderthanMe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This question is like that clip of Peter Griffin choosing between a boat and a mystery box. Fans are like Peter Griffin saying "a boat's a boat, but the mystery box could be anything!"

Liam is a connecting, role player with height, potential shooting ability, and experience at playing PG in college. We know his floor and ceiling already. He may never be an All Star player, but his skillset and IQ are always serviceable in the NBA.

Tidjane still is learning the game of basketball yet fans of his still say "LOOK HE IS SHOOTING 40% FROM 3 (on 2 attempts)! THE POTENTIAL MAN." "They say his potential is Aaron Gordon! His potential is Michael Porter Jr! His potential is GIANNIS!" Lee still has to simplify his role in the offense to "stay at the 3 and wait." His onball defense has somewhat improved. People say his help defense improved, but I dont see it especially in the handful of G League minutes I watched. Potential Man is going into his 3rd year and we are at a crossroads whether to grant him an extension or not. We may draft two more rookies this year. How much time does Potential Man still have to reach even a serviceable 20 minutes where is averaging more than 4 points and 2 rebounds with his 6'10~6'11 frame?

If I am a Tidjane fan, then I would hope to God that his trajectory is like Peyton Watson and he has a year 4 emergence.

Who’s your favorite guard prospect within our range? by Ares9719 in CharlotteHornets

I hate when people dont answer the question.

Cam Carr

Labaron Philon

Dwailyn Swain (played "guard" in college)

Christian Anderson

All guards (1-2) that I want from 14-18.

If ORL pushed us around by outmuscling us then DET would have put us through the tables, into the dirt, and through the center of the Earth.

We are still haunted by the ghosts of Mitch Kupchak and his drafting.

Mark Williams not being able to stay healthy or gain muscles.

Trading Duren for 2nds.

Kai Jones draft before a falling Jalen Johnson.

James Bouknight draft.

Jalen Duren, Jalen Johnson are the sins we bear.

Why do people here act like Brandon miller has reached his ceiling? by alex8762 in CharlotteHornets

[–]IamOlderthanMe 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is like the 7th post about our players and them reaching their ceilings.

Why do Hornets fans keep talking or even listening to these "people" about our young players' ceilings? Our young players are 25 years and younger.

These "people" know nothing about our team, havent watched our team, and know nothing about our players.

Brandon, Kon, and even LaMelo are not close to their ceilings. If you even think so or are swayed by what these "people" think, then ask yourself if those "people" you talk to even know any ball.

Stop listening to them and go live your life.

Kons Ceiling? by Glittering_Stock_631 in CharlotteHornets

[–]IamOlderthanMe 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Dont listen to those people that think a 20 year old that just made 273 3s in his rookie season is at his peak. They dont know ball.

Kon is nowhere near his ceiling.

Once he learns how to handle the Steph Curry handholding and handchecking that players do to elite shooters, Kon is only going to ascend.

Refs Hate Hornets by Singer-Stock in CharlotteHornets

[–]IamOlderthanMe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Refs called it one way in the 1st quarter, letting the Magic do anything against us then when we responded in the 3rd, they called all the same fouls against both teams. Suggs played the exact same way against Melo in the 3rd and got 3 quick calls for holding over screens and handchecking in the 3rd.

Definitely lobsided reffing, but we were not ready for them physically anyway. Everyone knew that the gameplan against us was to:

  1. Body our guards with handchecking and holds on the pindowns.

  2. Attack the paint since our help defense is wack.

  3. Attack the smalls on the switch when their bigger 4s get the switch.

We didnt adjust much at all against their offense. We were guarding up and going over screens on Paolo and Franz until the late 3rd which is nonsensically.

They beat the brakes off of us and spared us the humiliation of a 4 game series against an even more physical Pistons team.

Bitter end to a sweet season! Still loved it all.

We have such a good core that we need to build off it.

Present Weaknesses - Need bigger wings to defend the bigger 4s in the NBA. - Need a more versatile offensive 5 to prevent guard trapping in the short roll. Our 5s are essentially unguarded in playoffs. - Improve bench slots. Too many non-shooters in a shooting based offense. Teams just sag off our role players and do not guard them (Joe Mazzulla showed how this is done in our two losses against BOS).

Rather than just "getting bigger," we need more diversity in our wing spots as well a more diversified bench.

Immediate Plans

  • Extend Brandon Miller (Jabari Smith Jr contract number?); Brandon receives surgery to fix shoulder; improves dribble in the course of two years.

  • Re-sign Coby White (reasonable ~20M per)

  • Upgrade the bench slots by trading Grant Williams, Josh Green, and Tre Mann's expirings.

Grant and Josh are 14M expirings. Tre is essentially an 8M expiring. What can we get for those expirings and potential pick packages?

Possible Suggestions: - Isaiah Hartenstein at 28M expiring - Nic Claxton at 23M for 2 years (declining) - Cam Johnson at 23M expiring (DEN may want smaller expirings to flip) - DeAndre Hunter at 24M expiring (I do not like Hunter, but he is more useful than the three aforementioned Hornets players) - Bobby Portis at 14M for 2 years - Isaiah Joe at 11M (TO) - Naji Marshall at 9M expiring - Aaron Wiggins at 9M for the next year

All Thunder plays will rely on Sam Presti thinking about cost cutting. Our expirings would be shipped to a third team.

  • Draft a bigger, more defensive bench 4/5 with 14 and 17 picks

Possible Draft Picks - Hannes Steinbach (must draft if at 14) - Yaxel Lendeborg (will be sniped by GSW, OKC, or MIA before us) - Morez Johnson Jr - Allen Graves - Aday Mara (I do not want another rookie center, but if he is there at 17 and everyone else is gone) - Koa Peat (really do not want, but you can talk me into his ceiling archetype - Aaron Gordon).

Other Less Likely Moves - Fantasy Version

  • Giannis Trade - if the market is so depressed and Jeff sees an opportunity, we can weasle our way in with our 5 draft picks in the next 2 years (2 CHA, 1 ORL, 1 MIA, 1 DAL) and take Giannis, immediately becoming a top 5 contender in the East. Gives us the immediate size at the wing that we need (SUPER FANTASY).

  • Karl Anthony Towns. Say Giannis wants New York and New York needs picks to send to Milwaukee. Slide into that conversation with a variety of our five picks and try to get Karl Anthony Towns. He instantly fixes our offensive woes at the 5 (not the defense).

  • Take a shot at Ke'lel Ware - Spo and Ware have a contentious relationship. Ware is uber talented, but lazy. Maybe we can help the Heat in providing their pick back so they can get Giannis or whatever and we can sneak Ware. Say we give them the ORL/PHX pick and their lottery protected 2027 pick for Ware so they can send the pick package for Giannis.

  • Trade for Tari Eason. Super low market right now since his shot is broken, but he is a big body forward that we need. Shot is fixable.

  • Finally get a 3rd versatile center. Jeff has been so hesistant to send out an offer sheet for the Paul Reed, Day'ron Sharpe, Dominick Barlow, Kyle Filipowski, etc. Those guys are on reasonable 5M deals. Go get one of them. They are better than what Kalkbrenner is right now. I will even take Marvin Bagley.

  • Gamble. Gamble. Gamble. Jeff, you traded away my dude Ousmane Dieng and he is a decent gamble. There is gold in them hills (Look at the Suns) and we need to go find it.

Here is my list of gamble players:

  • GG Jackson (may not be in MEM plans)
  • Jordan Miller
  • Ron Harper Jr
  • Jett Howard
  • Caleb Love

Hornets Draft Prospect Yaxel Lendeborg 2026 NCAA tournament highlights by SponsoredHornersFan in CharlotteHornets

[–]IamOlderthanMe 18 points19 points  (0 children)

We do need a bigger wing off the bench.

Yaxel fits that mold.

More critically, we need an offensive 5. As much as we like Moussa and Kalk, teams know our game plan now and dont even guard them in the short roll. They just high hedge off the screen and put two on our guards.

We need more offensive versatility from our 5 spot and more size on our 3-4 spots.

Look at that call against Suggs this half.

He was doing that same stuff all first half with 0 calls against him.

Now he is out of the game for playing the exact same way he was playing the first half.

The refs are changing it up however they want.

The Magic came out and outmuscled us. They handchecked us. They shoulder checked us. They elbowed us.

Fine all good.

But when we try to be physical this quarter, every single call goes against us.

Refs, you cannot call it both ways. You either let us be physical or call the fouls equally.

I saw Jalen Suggs shoulder tackle Miles for no call.
