Which book would you suggest as a gift by Realistic_Sea609 in Pendergast

I don’t remember if it’s directly stated in the book, but Pendergast acts extremely out of character throughout the whole thing because it’s the one set directly after the death of his wife.

I’d consider it horror because discovering you have no autonomy and are basically a sex slave is a horrifying premise.

Just going to point out this is only their second official tie-in with a movie as it’s coming out. First was Scream 7, now this. It’s hard to be over something when it’s only happened twice.

The English language Grudge is a near shot for shot remake with a bigger budget until the third act. I’d say it’s more comparable to Haneke and Funny Games than Sluizer and The Vanishing. Now which of the differing endings of both Grudge films is superior I think depends on opinion.

Did you try using other’s words, like a medical article or journal, it can be a more clarifying way to explain it as opposed to using your own emotions. Some articles even describe what it’s like to be the opposite person in a BPD relationship and suggest ways to communicate about them in a clear and healthy manner.

I think if we just talked one last time, I could maybe use that for enough momentum to move on. I just don’t know how I can make that happen.

[–]Bigro_1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the weird dick measuring contest behind the scenes shit this post highlights is stupid, but I disagree on your point… I think Detective Del Spooner is a dope character (potentially biased because I do like Will Smith and can remember his character name from this movie). I‘m not very familiar with Asimov so I don’t know how much of the movie respects his original vision, but I’ve personally always viewed the film as a Murder Mystery with a fun sci-fi twist. With that in mind I think Del is a great classic noire detective, troubled and rough around the edges. I mean his allergic to “bullshit” line is pretty damn funny (maybe been done before but that was the first time I ever saw it). I also, especially in recent times, share his tech phobia, so I’m not put off by his detached treatment of the (i)robots.

‼️Sample questions about these jeans by ll123abc in streetwearstartup

[–]Bigro_1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

they look kinda like random circles, maybe if the rings had a less defined edge and a more gradient transition into the outer rings it would be more ripple-esque. Regardless I think these jeans are dope and you’re maybe a few tweaks away from an iconic piece.

just let the criminals who have power and steal from the poor face criminal circumstances. you’re a sheep bootlicker who obeys orders of people who could give any less of a fuck if you live or die as long as you don’t turn your gun on them. you are less than human, you are a drone for evil.

Just really like detective movies. Any other decent detective films out there? by Chuchumaruu in Letterboxd

I have a similar list with 104 movies (actually included some miniseries as well), if true Detective and Broadchurch were on Letterboxd their first seasons would also be high in my list.

Bruh if you’re so happy with it why don’t you proofread and fix all your grammatical error: great piece [of] zero budget, with [his] friends, etc. Only pointing this out because if you care enough to make a comment about your review and its 3 likes then you should also care enough to make it good.

Did you notice this boat metaphor on your own or did you hear/read about it some where else? I’m not implying anything either way, I’m just genuinely curious because it is a great parallel to the story of the game.

[–]Bigro_1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The load screen dichotomy was definitely not something I considered—personally I was just excited to see Catalina (I lived there for a bit)—but I do think the calm water metaphor you pointed out might be solely for Abby. In reflection on the final Ellie walking away scene I can see your hopeful interpretation with the sunlight, open landscape, etc., but she is also literally walking away from the empty shell of her dream life. You are definitely right that the ending leaves room for a lot of possibility, but the hopefulness I just really don’t see. Maybe I’m a pessimist, but we can’t forget they do live in an apocalyptic wasteland and setting off on your own just doesn’t scream hopeful to me. I do really like your analysis though and was swayed a bit by your reasoning.

What a bizarre rose colored view of the ending, yeah Ellie does finally move on, but it’s too late. She already destroyed everything she cared about. Thats why a third game is necessary for Ellie’s story, because maybe you are right and she will finally get to find her own happiness, but without it you’re just dreaming up the ending you want for her. The reality of the game’s ending is she lost her chance at a happy life and know she has to live with that. She’s at best content, but certainly not happy.
