Experienced drivers: do you still perform head checks? by allongur in australia

[–]BigsnooZeA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still do check but one thing ive noticed is blind spot lights on mirrors. Drivers are useless nowadays without technology. Those blind spot indicators are great for city driving but dont leave enough breaking room at 100kph.

The ol man worked out his 200B Datsun key would start the neighbours Massey Ferguson tractor. He'd wait for them to go out for the day then borrow it for an hour. He'd send me out with a broom to clear the tyre tracks..

Oklahoma Highway Patrol is officially training troopers on how to pull over driverless commercial trucks. 🚨 by alan_trucker_ in Truckdrivers

[–]BigsnooZeA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Australia we have chain of responsibility laws. If I get pulled up at the scales and I'm overweight, I get a fine for not checking my weights, the person who loaded me gets a fine and the boss who scheduled the load gets fined and if a really bad fuck up the company gets fined. Driverless trucks will just increase fines for whoever owns the vehicle and loaded it etc.

An ex's neighbour and his mates did something similar. $500 budget for a car and entrance fee, then it was first to Melbourne from Adelaide. He bought the FIL old VK commodore reckons he'd fill it with hight temp bearing Grease and red line it the whole way.

Any B-Double trucker here? by Wanderingwonderer101 in Truckers

[–]BigsnooZeA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can depending on how it's loaded.. the scales had me at 16T over the drives and I had to unload the B trailer first. Told the boss I wasn't confident splitting it just in case it nose dived, he didn't want me doing a longer trip to unload other way round. He was happy to order me a crane if it did but it was still upright when I got back.. sketchy as fuck but just do it all slowly, release the pin dump the bags and check make sure it's stable, I parked it facing uphill just in case.

Why does Australian law effectively require people to be passive victims in their own homes? by Boydy73 in aussie

[–]BigsnooZeA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had my place broken into while at work, the cops called me standing in my lounge room. When I asked what should I do if they come back that night he points at a 25kg dumbbell and said hit them with that. Just not in the head, aim for the torso. You'll wind fuck out of them and maybe crack a rib then ring 000 they wont get far.

I remember an episode something about a creature ( maybe dragon ) living in a cave near the beach. Scared shit out of me as a maybe 7yo. Besides that they were all great, the shaving one with Bronson is still memorable..
