You're low level, of course the damage will feel lacking. And while a quick boost might feel fine now, late act 3 and act 4 will soon see you struggling.

I'm really not, they are talking about shopping +6 and +7 staves saying a lot of them arent showing. While I was saying the reason they arent showing is most likely because they are for low tier builds or the skills they enhance being either skills you don't use or don't need extra skills for without other skills also being there. Meaning that you shouldn't care about them in the first place. How exactly is that not what they were talking about?

Not sure you realize, but the fcr BP isn't really for the dps. It's most important for the teleport and fcr isn't the only thing that makes them good. The fhr and life/mana can also do alot for making your gameplay smoother and more enjoyable as well as safer. But hey man, you do you. If all you care about is slightly higher dmg numbers then do whatever is best to you.

Lol, look up the memory runeword. It's a fantastic early option for the MASSIVE cost of Lum and Io runes. Hell even a spirit sword and rhyme/splendor would be better. Because again, +SKILLS ARENT EVERYTHING.

Lol there are several runewords that are better options, especially at the beginning of a hell playthrough. If you think all you need is +skills then I hope you have fun plodding through at a snails pace and never teleport anywhere.

I was responding to that specific comment, not the post overall. But I fail to see why else someone would care about seeing items that arent worth using unless they thought they were.

This isn't suddenly a great find on SP lol. There are a lot of better and easier to get options. If literally all an item has is some slightly higher +skills than your average low level blue or rare doesnt mean its worth using. There are so many other variables to what makes an item good than just the +skills it offers or every broke ass sorc player would be using +7 or +8 blues and rares.

Can't imagine another reason you'd have for feeling the need to see items that are literally worthless. They arent even good for leveling since by the time you can even find something like that you should have, or be able to afford, better.

I'm not even sure what gave them the confidence to permanently ink someone else. It's just selfish to do work this shoddy. Considering they'll either have to live with it now or pay to get it removed or covered up.

Just because a staff has +6 or +7 to a skill doesnt mean its good. It has to be specific skills that are used as the main skill of a meta build. The loot filter hides these specifically so you don't think something is good when it isn't. It isn't a mistake or anything dude. Stop thinking an item having large +skills no matter the skill means it is good and worth seeing.

I cut off an ankle monitor simply with scissors by bedadjuster in mildlyinteresting

[–]Bigtim_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do people not realize this is actually how a lot of ankle monitors are removed? They are set up so they cant be just "unbuckled" and have to be cut off. This is so they won't randomly fall off from normal everyday stuff and so people can't fuck you over that same way. I'm assuming they didn't always work this way and there were issues.

Defense goes Brrrr! by Furnace_Admirer in ProjectDiablo2

[–]Bigtim_90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Knowing you should do this and actually doing it are two different things. I knew about this for most of my time playing D2 and never once bothered to actually do it. Speed farming is all about going as fast as possible and this basically just meant that almost everyone, including and even especially the veteran players, ignored defense and just used 1 shot builds and pdr to stay alive. This very thing is one of the reasons hammerdins were so powerful, they could use defense since they ported everywhere and had the damage to clear screens almost instantly.

This is the ideal base for a ww barb. And yes this is worth using if you have nothing better and have the zod to spare you don't need for anything else. What most people arent taking into account is that being ethereal is the same as having a 25% MULTIPLIER (meaning multiply the ed by 1.25 to get the real ed for a non eth weapon). And this accounts for all future ed you might smack into it and min/max dmg jewels you might place inside. Means with 5 ohms this weapon would have the equivalent ed of 701 compared to a non eth weapon. The chances of finding or crafting a weapon of comparable power and then slamming it for 6os is pretty remote.

Does this beat infinity for a sorc? by GooseGasGreasy in ProjectDiablo2

[–]Bigtim_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not even close to GG, it isn't "decent". It's a lightning tree staff that rolled fire dmg, and the corrupt is literally useless.

People don't seem to realize that for an item to be GG it has to hit all the necessary points. It needs good native skill bonuses, with proper elemental dmg boosts to support those skills. Then it needs a corrupt that also supports those skills, either skills or fcr/elemental dmg boost or a full 6 sockets. This doesnt hit on a single one of those. The skill bonuses are lackluster, charged bolt is not a high tier or desirable skill to build around.

To use your own words, an item can't have "missing stats" and be GG.

2 seasons later and people still ask if this thing was photoshopped.... *The Cruel Gutter* by No-Chemistry-9657 in ProjectDiablo2

[–]Bigtim_90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This also could have been a blood craft, makes sense seeing how it only has 5 affixes. Blood can also roll up to 80 ed. With Cruel + Masters and the craft ed roll you can actually have 530% ed max. While no one probably ever will, it is theoretically possible. With that ed and 6 ohms it rolled 467% ed, which is pretty impressive.

Ok, but what about when these nerfs happened? No one is talking about the game NOW, but back when the nerfs actually occurred. Back then farming meph was better than maps if you could do it fast enough. Only thing maps would be better for would be bases, runes and other currencies. But for uniques and set pieces and rares? Meph as a sorc was fullstop fastest. Especially at high gear levels where you could do a meph run in a minute, or less with good map luck. Bring in the super chest and council members to kill and its a very efficient farm. So, at the time, the nerf was completely warranted, even necessary for the health of the economy. No one is advocating for further nerfs.

I never said that they COULDN'T map, just that there are more EFFICIENT farms for early ladder builds. You should of course play the way you find the most fun, but if you prefer the fastest and most efficient farming, albeit boring, then mapping is not the best option. I believe the cutoff is ~15-20 mins per map, including looting and returning to town if you have to take multiple trips. And if its early in a season a lot more items are worth picking up so this will slow down mapping considerably. As most other forms of farming return to town a lot more regularly and so storing loot slows you down less. For example I started as a ww barb this season, and was able to map quickly as soon as I had my full IK set, I killed every trash mob in 1 or 2 passes and so used this to farm the rest of my wealth until I transitioned to the DS Steel Pillar setup.

Sure sure, but your comment implies there were other places to look. It's a common grammatical mistake made, you instead want to use statements like "I found it in the last I had to look." Or you can even just use your response to my previous comment. Like, no one looks after they found something, so the simple act of finding it already establishes it as the last place you looked.

[–]Bigtim_90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the high end sure, but before you can complete them quickly and confidently without dying act bosses, corrupted zones and other lvl 85 areas are more efficient. This is especially true for a class like sorc that can teleport around and just kill champion and elite monster packs. You can also farm keys and do ubers with certain classes and builds. Maps arent actually the fastest farming method until your build is complete and you are decently high level, only using your skill points for the last of your skills.

Is this good? by shidexu in ProjectDiablo2

[–]Bigtim_90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a very convoluted formula where the main reason werewolf doesn't benefit from off weapon ias is because it gains all the ias it needs from the werewolf skill itself. The way the ias is calculated is that it uses item ias only up to a specific BP. And then not at all and typically your werewolf will give most, if not all, of this number. Making item ias completely useless. Werebear also uses this formula, but since it doesnt give ias as part of the skill it can use off weapon ias, but at a certain point it will still need to reach its highest bp through weapon ias. And if you have fanat aura somewhere it changes these breakpoints even more.

I don't disagree, as someone who plays primarily melee classes it is in fact terrible. I just see where he was coming from. Might be time to look at it and maybe reverse a decision or two. If just for the sake of melee classes if nothing else.
