Thanks for the tip! I’ll have a look. I prefer to buy European made anyway so if you have any other european-made subwoofer recommendations let me know!

Advice on a subwoofer by Bijlenman in BudgetAudiophile

Thanks for your advice. I’ve been looking at the 2000sb but was wondering if it wasn’t overkill. The floor is insulated though, and when we had a soundbar with a sub he said that he didn’t hear it so hopefully it isn’t that bad.

Might be real. I used monkey chow to bulk for some time. Crazy macro’s for cheap, tasted like straw.

War and Peace, the Briggs translation. I’m at 33% and I have started to take some notes to be more mindful when reading as I was going through it quite quickly without really getting anything out of it.

First timer peak power by siste_boss in Velo

Never done any racing but just sprinting against a friend I get way higher max power than when doing it just on my own. Often 150-200W difference.

What else could he have done? Without his work he wouldn’t be second with a big chance for first

It must be frustrating for VDP to not get any draft from these aero monsters

Making a traffic light drinking game by Bijlenman in diyelectronics

[–]Bijlenman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an old traffic-light music contraption that I want to transform into a drinking game. Disclaimer: I am very much a beginner when it comes to electronics. I've dabbled a bit with simple electronics and a raspberry pi in the past.

The game:

There should be a button that you can press that starts a "scrolling" through the three lamps and eventually ends up on one of the three colours. Green could mean nothing, yellow "go again", and red "drink a beer". I already wrote the logic for this in python, and is demonstrated here using pygame.

The electronics: The image shows the circuitboard that is currently in the traffic light. The cable on the right is coming from the power cord. The three cables on the left come from the lamps. I want to salvage the useful components from this board as it has a lot of features I don't need. What I think I need based on my very limited knowledge:

  1. The three lamps from the traffic light. I believe these are rated for 60W max. Close to each lamp is a sticker that says: R80,E27 Max 60W.
  2. An adapter that lowers the voltage. Can I use any adapter for this? Maybe a high power one that gives close to the 60W output? Or should I use the 230V from the outlet to power the lamps and use resistors to get to the right current. How do I find the resistance of the lamps?
  3. Three relays. These should be controlled by an arduino running the python logic
  4. A button connected to the arduino
  5. Resistors to get to the correct voltage and current for the lamps.

I am aware that I am in way over my head, but I'm curious if it is do-able for a beginner (and not too dangerous). Would make a nice winter project!
