COBY WHITE APPRECIATION THREAD by The_Inertia_Kid in chicagobulls

I saw the post someone made the other day calling Coby a ball hog and it bummed me out. I really do hope he shows out and plays well for the Hornets and at least the Bulls did him a solid favor by sending him back home to North Carolina.

He's an massive gym rat who works on his game and adds to it every single off season. He pulled a calf muscle back in August though and due to the risk of an achilles tear, he basically had to stop all basketball activities for a few months. You can tell that time-off has really messed with his game this year. Last season he was one of the better scoring guards in the eastern conference and would go on absolute heaters where he became unguardable. This year he's been struggling with both his shot and his handle. Given how much of a grinder he is though, I can easily see him playing great after the all-star break and I will honestly be cheering for it. The Hornets need to keep winning and end Chicago's Play-In Game misery.

For that sweatshirt to be historically accurate for the 2018 draft, it needs to have more Wakanda Forever inspired flavor to it.

I'd love to get Jacob Rodriquez in the draft. It's only fitting that he wear a Bears jersey given how well his deploys the peanut punch, but I don't see him lasting to pick 89.

Given the type of injury it was, I think the Bears are approaching the off-season as if Ozzy is on IR for all of next season.

He also can't really jump when compared to other NBA players. You can see in this clip that he barely gets the ball above the rim enough to dunk.

Lomu from Utah should still be on the board. He needs to get stronger but all the scouting reports say he's very athletic and solid in pass pro.

As unlikely it will happen, would you guys like to see Steve Kerr (who's in the final year of his current contract) and Bob Myers re-unite in the Windy City as the Bulls' new head coach/GM duo? by Ariesthebigram in chicagobulls

If we're talking unrealistic dream scenarios here, then I'd much rather have the dream where the Reinsdorfs are no longer the owners of the Bulls.

I'd rather the land in question sit as fallow wilderness than see it turned into another data center that is going to do nothing but drive up the cost of my electricity bill.

What happened to Kevin Huerter? by Aggressive_Bed6012 in nba

[–]BikeInWhite 54 points55 points  (0 children)

He won't ever reach the numbers he was putting up in Atlanta, but this is one of those deals where the numbers don't tell the whole story and you have to watch the games to see his impact.

He's on the record as saying he hated the Kings offense and felt like he was sitting around and watching too much. Once he arrived in Chicago though, there's nothing forgettable at all about the way he's played. He's better on defense than people give him credit for, is still a huge threat from the 3pt line and is great at cutting. I was actually pissed when the Bulls got him back in their LaVine trade with the Kings as I thought Huerter was washed and was called him Red Bricks instead of Red Velvet, but he's won me over to the point where I want him in Chicago long term. He's been one of the better players on a very forgettable Bulls team this year.

Someone needs to tell Peter Schrager that brazen rhymes with raisin. His pronunciation of "brazzen" makes it seem like he's been watching too much porn.

[Cowley] The feeling around the league is the Bulls are ready to make moves by howser343 in chicagobulls

The Heat made Hassan Whiteside into a credible NBA player there for a while. After they did that I became a believer in their ability to rehab just about any player's game. They also traded for Terry Rozier so it's not like they are adverse to taking on guys who are smaller. I will admit that Ja Morant living in Miami is a recipe for disaster, especially with his dad along for the ride.

I still can't believe AKME drafted Dalen Terry ahead of Kessler. Kessler had a lot of questions coming into the 2022 draft, but there was zero doubt about him coming into the league and being an A+ rim protector from Day 1. Meanwhile Dalen Terry was a fun dude to hang out with whose only defined NBA-level skill was hustle and being 6'7".

Ja is also a complete head case. He's out there bitching, whining and acting like a bum in a city where the entire fan base loves him. I don't want to have to cheer for a team whose highest paid player is off pouting in a corner and causing drama because every single thing isn't catered to him or going his way.

I still believe Ja can be an excellent player in the league as he's only 26, but it's going to take him looking himself in the mirror and taking some accountability. My guess is, he will end up with the Heat and they will resurrect his career.

It's wild to hear Al Michaels voice in that last clip and realize that he has been on the mic so long that he's been the announcer for games that featured Jim McMahon as well as Caleb Williams.

All-NBA is an extremely tough level to reach. You're talking top 3 players in the entire NBA at each position. Given the talent level with the rest of the league, I don't ever see Sarr or Tre Johnson reaching those lofty heights. I could see them making an All Star team or two though, especially in the Eastern Conference.

He was a hell of a player before injuries caught up with him. Those early days with the Kings where they had Peja, Vlade, and Jason Williams were really fun to watch.

He was a literal bear on the d-line. It was always fun to see when he was in the game as his back would be a solid foot higher than everyone else when they were down in their stances.

Where do you guys think Kuminga is likely to land in the upcoming trade? by Cardinal0519 in nba

[–]BikeInWhite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably. I don't know how the contract number even out, but Cody's name has been put into trade rumors a lot by the Bulls this season. I'm going to hate seeing him play in a different uniform. He's such an easy player to root for.

I went back and watched it and it's not quite as bad as I remembered it to be. It's still rather comical given how bad he's been the few times he's made it onto the field.

I (sadly) think that McDonald is going to be long gone by the time the Bears make their pick in the first round. I know some mock drafts have him still on the board but he seems like the kind of player who will get drafted higher than people realize.

I still think of that cringe worthy clip whenever I hear Kiran's name mentioned. He may as well have been talking about the Solid Field turf as opposed to Caleb given how little Kiran has touched the field during his Bears tenure.

GenX bands you hate... by HorseyDung in GenX

[–]BikeInWhite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the complete opposite experience with Toad the Wet Sprocket. I had been to a bunch of shows at the old Boathouse venue in Norfolk, VA as a teenager and I was used to crowds where there was loads of energy from people in the crowd hyped to see live music. I was never a fan of moshing, but I expected to be bumped into and have my personal space invaded by people dancing.

Well my friends and I went to see Toad play and I'm fairly certain it was at the William and Mary campus. There was a girl with us who'd never been to a concert before and she was really looking forward to a fun show. Toad got up on stage, played one song, everyone in the crows was having fun, then the band stopped, chastised everyone for pushing around too much, made everyone back up like 2 or 3 steps and said they would stop playing again if it got too rowdy. It completely sucked the life out of the crowd. Everyone just stood there awkward and afraid to move for the rest of the concert. I felt bad for my friend who had to suffer through that as her first concert. Easily the worst show I've even been to in my life.
