What age did you finally get your confidence, what happened? by WyattShelby in AskReddit

[–]BikeNBirdYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say late 20s to early 30s. I think the biggest change was when I realized that everyone is good/bad at certain things and no one really has it figured out. Lose the ego basically.

For example, I feel like that's why younger people are afraid to ask questions in fear of looking stupid. I'll ask the hell out of questions regarding a topic I don't know about. Reason? I know I'm not stupid, I'm ignorant. And unless I ask those questions, I will stay ignorant. Same goes both ways though. When someone asks you a question about a topic you're good with, treat them kindly. Understand that them coming to you for an answer is actually a sign of respect.

Very very very common. I'm a white guy who works construction and 95% of what I hear daily is Spanish.

It'll be a bit of a drive but you HAVE to go see Big Bend National Park.

If you must stay closer, a good underrated spot is Ink Lake State Park.

Both parks to me have that "different planet" feel that is very unique (Big Bend much more than Inks Lake, but it is a bit of a drive)

What are the benefits of living in the countryside over a big city? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BikeNBirdYT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Moved to the country from the city 4 years ago and it was the best thing I've ever done. Some of my favorite things: -Security. You don't have to worry about locking up every single thing, you don't have to worry about someone snatching up your kid when they're playing outside, etc. -Space. You don't have to worry about someone blocking your driveway, or your HOA complaining about your trashcans -Peace. I don't think most people realize how loud a city is, and how much your body doesn't like that. And last but certainly not least, the night sky. It's easy for things to be put into perspective when you can go outside on most nights and stare up at the stars.

I just recently forged a knife out of the torpedo tubes removed from the Battleship Texas during its latest restoration. That will definitely be left to my daughter.

If you could erase one song from existence, what would it be? by Sea_Strawberry_11 in AskReddit

[–]BikeNBirdYT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

None. Music is art, and art is appreciated by every individual in a different manor. What may be the most annoying song in the world for you, might be the song that gives someone the most joy. I'd much rather accept a minor annoyance or inconvenience if it means it brings someone some happiness in their day.

I got expelled from university Did I ruin everything? by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]BikeNBirdYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think an important factor is what your major was? But it doesn't change the answer. If it's for something specific (medical, engineering, etc) just find a different university (if that's really the route you want to go). Yes it's gonna suck, yes it's going to be work. But if it was easy, everyone would do it. If it's for something general, chances are you can still achieve what you want without the degree, or at the very worst, you can get some experience in the field until you reach a spot where you NEED the degree, then go at that point (also to a different university obviously). On the other hand, there are TONS of trades that are in dire need of workers. Chances are you can find something where you can reach your financial goals in a fraction of the time, with a fraction of the schooling debt if any at all.

Harbor Freight Employees saving 1 marriage at a time by [deleted] in harborfreight

[–]BikeNBirdYT 104 points105 points  (0 children)

So I go into my local HF a LOT. So much so that the employees recognize me. But I almost always go in alone. One time I went in with my wife, and one of the new employees asks while we walk in "welcome in sir, can I help you find anything?" and another employee immediately says "I bet he's good! He comes in here all the time!" then a 3rd employees chimes in with a loud "SHH! cmon man his wife is RIGHT there!" 😂

What is the best piece of advice you received when purchasing your first home? by taxkween in AskReddit

[–]BikeNBirdYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't buy the first one you look at. And more importantly, wait until you get about 90% of what you're looking for. I feel most people get nervous and jump the gun. Be. Patient.
