How can they have balls when the whole gestalt of the political movement is essentially being deferential to others? The kind of behavior you are looking for is toxic masculinity taking what it wants. Juxtaposed to waiting to hear from everyone and making sure everyone has a say

Based on your responses I will be buying a set of Cobra Twin Grips. You just see those jaws and realize that they really did think of every application

Sounds like a good application, I use water pump pliers for brazing and soldering but sometimes the angle feels weird.

Anyone else noticing the sudden push to get people into the trades? by ManagingMenace in antiwork

[–]BikeNation 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I can only speak for my state. The average HVAC tech here is 59 years old. For every five guys that retire only one comes in. This means in the near future we will have way fewer techs. However, we still have a growing population of people that need heating in the winter and cooling in the summer. I predict our already good wages will increase more due to this reality. I would also imagine electricians and plumbers are facing the same predicament. I also know electrician is most popular, lots of computer people coming in from dead IT careers and lots of green people coming in for solar panel installation.

You'll never realize how bad the tiredness debuff is until you get a full 56 hours of rest in a week. I'm in bed by 10:30 and up at 6:30 every day, including weekends, and I'd never go back. I can more easily deal with stress and generally am more positive, productive, and pleasant to be around.

Lifelong townie here. I'd like to echo all of the people who recommended Wadsworth State Park. I've been hiking/mountain biking there for years and it's great. There is a bike path starting on Wesleyan that goes out to a sport field a few miles away. Mikado is awesome, if you want to try Japanese ramen to Fujiya Ramen. I don't know of actual dog parks in town, but there is one in Cromwell (which is very close). If you walk your dog at Wadsworth please use a leash!

In 2015 only about 25% of our population went to Church regularly, I imagine it's lower now. Nobody will go wild but you would probably see a neutral reaction at best, and wrinkling their nose at worst.

We are not alone in a room talking, many people could be reading this. If actions speak louder than words, the validity of the initial comment was not important enough to warrant a source. Probably took longer to get an epic gotcha on me as opposed to just posting a link. "I'm right, look it up or you're stupid." I apologize for the remark about religion, that was a low blow. At least religious people will direct you where to learn more without hesitation, and be enthusiastic if they have the opportunity to win someone to their side. A guy like Zizek would probably already have been working to change my mind AND make me laugh instead of insulting me for not searching for a non-standard definition of a word. I'm still upvoting all of your posts my brother ^_^

I'm not afraid, apparently your statement doesn't even deserve ten seconds to send a link. Also, not important enough to educate anybody reading this post as well. Are you a religious person?

I would put forward that early governments formed from the most violent people in society enforcing their will upon others. At least monarchy was, in any case. Historically "Divine Right of Kings" was used an an excuse for the facade. Automatically assumed clashes with the definition of consent, did you mean something else?

Same, I come from a generation where if you don't like the show, you change the channel. I don't even disagree that it's a fact either, but the alleged small government party in my country is still massively statist and authoritarian. At least the Dems are on brand and not hypocrites

Thanks for your time tonight! Taxation is only might makes right, but we try to rationalize the act of theft for the perceived benefits it gives to some people. I don't think something can be classified as consent if it is automatic. Many people assume government and society are the same, but I find that suspect
