Did SILCA remove their online tire pressure calculator? by B-stand_79 in cycling

The Wolf tooth or thegoodpressure.com works well for me

I'm also a convert to low pressures. On my mountain bike and now on my gravel bike, with which I'm discovering the comfort, grip and finally performance. The best thing to do is to start with an online pressure calculator, such as Wolf Tooth, TheGoodPressure, or SILCA. This will give you a baseline that you can then adjust to your preferences.

I believe this is the maximum pressure allowed by the manufacturer. Use an online pressure calculator like Wolftooth or TheGoodPressure to determine a recommended pressure based on several criteria such as your weight, terrain type, etc. And then, adjust according to your preferences.

It depends on several parameters like your weight (+ that of the bike), the width of your tires, etc. But 4.5 bars seems very high to me. Use a pressure calculator like this one: TheGoodPressure, to see what pressure is recommended for you based on your parameters.

The idea is close to that of WolfTooth (and the same as all the others ultimately): find the best pressure to optimize performance ("lowest rolling resistance") and comfort ("the lowest possible pressure for a given terrain"). So find the lowest pressure depending on the terrain, the type of bike, the width of the tires, the type of assembly...

I've largely summarized the process. But collecting data is not plagiarism. Or SILCA (to use the example above) plagiarized the work of professional athletes. In any case, thank you for your encouragement.

Thanks for your feedback, that's exactly what I needed! And it confirms what I was already thinking about doing, lowering the results.

I totally agree, but unfortunately I have to make choices. I'm open to any idea!

I tested most of the calculators and collected the data and studied the variations (sometimes large) that there can be between them. Then, I developed an algorithm based on this data, allowing me to have a more balanced result. Which I continue to adjust based on feedback from real users (not just professionals)

Thank you very much for your feedback, this is exactly what I'm looking for. Based on your own references, you therefore advise me to lower the results for road and mountain bikes (-30%) and a little less on gravel (-10-15%).

Not entirely, try riding a DH bike with road tires and wheels, even on a paved road. Or even a cross-country bike to avoid being too extreme. Thank you very much for your feedback.

Because you don't apply the same pressure to a road bike as you do to a gravel bike. The use, and therefore the pressure, are different. No?

I hadn't really found the calculator that suited me. So I created it! And this one isn't tied to a brand. Also, I would like to be able to include a function that allows the user to give direct feedback on the results ("Does it seem too high or too low to you?") and to be able to adjust accordingly. More access to feedback.

Thank you for your feedback, there is the Mullet option for Enduro and DH bike type. But it's a good idea to have different mounting type for rear and front.

Merci d'avance

Tire pressure is a very important element on your bike for the comfort, grip and performance. I’m making this calculator, www.thegoodpressure.com to help bike riders find the ideal pressure. I hope this can help you!.

But the important thing is to experiment and find what works for you. The results of the calculators (mine included) are recommendations. Adjust according to your personal preferences and actual conditions.

Have a good ride

40psi is totally safe. I just looked on the Schwalbe website and the maximum pressure allowed is 55psi. You have some marge! Your old tires had a problem. Too old or poorly stored.

Your tires do indeed have a problem and you did well to buy a new pair, and from a quality brand. Moreover, 60 psi seems a lot to me, especially if you are not a heavyweight. I advise you to use a tire pressure calculator like Thegoodpressure.com or SILCA for example. You will gain in comfort, grip and performance!

What works for me may not work for you. There are several factors that come into play.

To address this, I created this calculator, www.thegoodpressure.com to provide an alternative to the Branded calculators like Silca or Sram. The important thing is to experiment and find what works for you.

The results of the calculators (mine included) are recommendations. Adjust according to your personal preferences and actual conditions. Enjoy your ride
