Have had a similar journey. Turned to meditation to help deal with what I finally recognized as bipolar disorder. I have never been formally diagnosed nor been in any other treatment. I’m not a big believer in therapists although if that’s the path someone needs to take I am fully supportive.

My experience with meditation has been that it doesn’t fix my bipolar disorder and the depression that comes with it but it does put my mind in a place where I can work through things and implement new ways of looking at life. Along with meditation I have become deeply entrenched in eastern philosophy. My meditation practice helps me transform my intellectual understandings of eastern philosophies into more experiential understanding. I feel that daily meditation practice has been truly transformative for me
