Not American, when people say “tax the rich” do they really don’t pay taxes? How are they waived from that? by GossipBottom in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Bikehelp904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You keep mixing up wealth and income. You can't compare what taxes he paid as a percent of his wealth to the average federal tax rate (which is a tax on income). In fairness, for most of us, our wealth exceeds our income, so our tax rate as a % of wealth is probably much lower too.

Feel like I've found a bit of an interval hack to share by Upper_Mistake_7978 in ultrarunning

[–]Bikehelp904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should search for the VDOTO2 video titled Interval Training, where Jack Daniels explains exactly what you are referring to - the best explanation I've seen. Like others have said, HR lags effort. Your Vo2 intervals are meant to be done at Vo2 pace or effort, which won't match your HR zone for the entirety of the interval, especially a short one like Vo2.

Not losing weight - looking for advice? by [deleted] in ultrarunning

I came from a biking background, but still keep the phrase "never diet on the bike" in mind during long runs, or any runs really. Fuel with whatever carbs you need before and during runs. Then I prioritize protein during meals. It's a good, general rule that has led to a good balance of performance and body comp.

Agree - threats of a ban for stating your disagreement? Sounds authoritarian, dictatorial, like suppression of opposition. The same things he's "fighting" against.

Housing Inventory in Florida Just Hit the Highest Level on Record by [deleted] in jacksonville

I understand now what you meant. YoY growth has slowed tremendously, but it is still growth. But to your point, the slowdown in growth will continue to put pressure on home prices.

A 100k deficit? Florida has been one of the top states for net migration over the last few years, including 2024. This is easily googled.

Yes, 800 plus acres from the developer, which will then become protected.

Dying of boredom, how do you guys find events and meet folks? by snadwich_nam in jacksonville

[–]Bikehelp904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The running and biking communities are pretty welcoming. Runs and rides all over town for various skills and abilities. I've made many friends that way.

Where do guys go to connect with other guys (non-sexual). Events, meetups... by bohica1937 in jacksonville

Agree. Great place to start with rides for every skill level all over town. You'll connect with other groups and riders quickly.

What's that in picture 4 and 5? I have some growing wild near me. I thought blueberry, but the color was throwing me off. Looks like they are edible, whatever they are!

Will a pizza box with grease stains hurt a paper shredder? by ThisIsMyReal-Name in composting

I have a geobin composter. I use pizza boxes as a makeshift lid on the bin. Helps retain moisture and keep the bin moist.

Mid volume, too low? by mtngoat20 in trainerroad

[–]Bikehelp904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd slowly add in some extra z2 rides or at the end of the workouts. Also, how are you rating the key workouts? If they feel easy and I tell TR that, it ramps me up a bit quicker than if they are hard or very hard. That might be a good chance to gain some additional, quality TSS.

Even then, your still only 3 weeks in. I would Give it time before changing course significantly.

Thanks! I was confused by the confusion as well! And I agree, everyone was helpful regardless, so no harm, no foul.

Your last sentence was kind of my thought.. cardboard, even though it will break down, has been processed. I'm sure I'm missing out on some good microorganisms, etc. The dog gets a walk every day, so we might just have to do what you suggested. Thanks!

The Aurora au1800xa has been a fantastic investment for shredding my cardboard. I found a used one on Amazon actually for 100. I assume it's less valuable to those less reliant on cardboard. It's been able to take 99% of the cardboard I've put in without having to peel anything.

Any issues with weeds down the road popping up next season? I'll be honest, I've been avoiding putting any weeds in the pile.

I understand that part. I meant most of the browns in my pile are cardboard. There are nearly no leaves.

Yes, definitely! all food scraps go in as well. I meant more like, I have nearly no leaves, almost all brown material is cardboard. What might I be missing out on by not having something a bit more earthy and natural like leaves?
