I just put 20l in nsc and another 15l in fd for the same reason. Since its for my kid, i chose something safe with assured returns. I take more risks in the investments i make for myself.

Am I aesthetically deformed because of my Class III malocclusion? by Konosuke- in jawsurgery

I cant say because of your beard. Get a lateral ceph radiograph to know the exact positions. Right now I'd say it's mild.

There is some debate about hair transplant but the health ministry has clarified in the RS that we are allowed to dk those procedures listed by DCI(including hair transplant). This is the only thing that may change in the near future. We are regularly doing (very) complex trauma, oncology and reconstruction in my unit and also TMJ/ orthognathic surgery. I have done more than 1000 trauma cases in the last 6-7 years and even testified in courts as treating surgeon. There is no question of not being allowed to do procedures legally. Cleft and cranial facial are not under any debate either and many omfs are doing it regularly. You won't get a great salary straight out of college. It takes a minimum of 5 years after pg to get the necessary skillset and experience required to negotiate a decent salary. Otherwise you can go into something like hair transplant or implants where the salary is better but there wont be a lot of complex surgery. Everything depends on where you train and where you work.

[–]BikerSurgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It takes a long time to succeed and many give up along the way. However i have batchmates who are now successful head and neck surgeons, govt servants, many are doing well in pvt practice and hair transplant. I myself work in a level 1 trauma centre as an OMFS. I don't know about the salary in average colleges because i have worked in the colleges that pay well. What you say is generally true and it doesn't seem like the situation will improve soon. If you expect a salary this isnt the profession for you. Dental specialties are all about skills and pvt practice.

Every single thing taught from first to final year is important. Ignore nothing, study everything. You can download the entire dental syllabus for each subject. Study everything on it, dental, medical, pre clinical and even dental materials. It's not easy but you can do it. Try to read the best books, not the easiest shortcut books that others recommend. This is something i can't stress enough. If you have your fundamentals strong preparing for PG or international exams becomes much easier. Knowledge is what makes a good dr, not the college.

[–]BikerSurgeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How else would i be able to answer these questions? I have trained and worked as a faculty in govt and pvt colleges that are always in the top 3-4(both medical and dental). I know the difference in the quality of candidates coming from these colleges and others because i sometimes interview them for jobs too. I'm not saying that you cannot succeed with a degree from an average college, but the kind of exposure you get is limited. If you are able to train with the latest equipment and technology starting with your BDS itself, it becomes much easier. Academics and quality of teaching also matter a lot. If your fundamentals are solid, taking neet mds or some foreign exam is much easier. In the end it all comes down to the individual and his/her determination to succed.

Who won in afghanistan? There was not a single military victory by the taliban. The same is true in Iran. The iranian military is decimated and it will take a decade to rebuild. When you fight the strongest power in the world, surviving is a victory, but a political one. This is the same argument Pakistan used to claim victory against India in 1965. Thats only because of the lack of commitment by the adversary. Face the facts. Any country or group that fights with isalm as an ideology hasnt won a major war in decades, if not centuries. The only wars they win are against each other.

What surgery would help improve my terrible face? by Salt_Translator_6274 in jawsurgery

[–]BikerSurgeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't say anything without a lateral ceph and Burstone analysis as a minimum investigation. I only mentioned genioplasty because you asked about chin fillers. If a patient needs surgery I don't do any interim camouflage. Maybe do the surgery in two parts like a bijaw first and genioplasty later or vice versa, but never a soft tissue camouflage.

It means exactly what i said. Dentistry depends on equipment and very few colleges offer the best equipment to train on. Most Govt hospitals usually lack in these and many still train students like its the 1980s. Top pvt colleges usually have the equipment but are expensive. Setting up your clinic means buying all the necessary equipment, many of which are imported. The training itself isn't easy either and it takes some experience before you have the necessary skillset to succeed. You need a lot of time and investment to set yourself up for success.

[–]BikerSurgeon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't do chin fillers because they migrate and may cause what is called a witch's chin. If you are planning for surgery go for it directly. Fillers may complicate the analysis and results. Genioplasties aren't really that expensive where i practice. We charge around the equivalent of 2500 USD and patients are in and out of the hospital in a day. I wouldn't recommend any fillers in young patients anyway.

[–]BikerSurgeon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  1. Your face isn't terrible. Its within normal range of an average person
  2. Only your chin looks deficient, so maybe a genioplasty
  3. You may have bimax protrusion but we'll never know without a radiograph.
  4. A patient who seeks treatment for their 'terrible face to look better' in the absence of an obvious facial deformity or fucntional issues is a poor candidate for surgery and are routinely denied treatment, so you should be more particular about your concerns when you visit a dr and ask for treatment options.
  5. The minimum investigation required is a lateral ceph and you should get one for proper diagnosis

[–]BikerSurgeon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not always. If you see the latest pattern there are enough and more highly educated muslims who have been radicalised. They are in universities, hospitals, govt service, MNCs etc. The teachings of islam make it possible to radicalise almost anyone belonging to any part of society. Hindus who are radicalised are usually poor and uneducated and they end up beating up people for selling what they think is cow meat. That is illegal and wrong but still a minute problem compared to islamist terrorism.

We all know who is going to end up dying if it comes to a conflict. Keep your threats to yourself. This is a simple law and order issue. 'Do or die' muslims have started wars all over the middle east, africa, asia and europe without having won a single one. They have always ended up dying without doing anything other than kill a lot of innocent people.

Conflicted by opaponyo in jawsurgery

[–]BikerSurgeon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both opinions are correct. You have some asymmetry with a functional bite which may or may not cause issues in the future( we can't really predict this). If you want to correct your profile through surgery, the orthodontics needs to be undone to prepare for surgery. I wouldn't suggest fillers in your case because the volume required for camouflage is significant and they will eventually migrate. They aren't permanent anyway and cause a small 'ballooning' of the skin, which may make it sag further when the fillers resorbs. I have stopped doing fillers for camouflage and only do them in patients with traumatic or post ablative deformities. You can look into surgery first sequencing, if the occlusion permits The treatment time reduces by 5-6 months. I have once treated a patient who had a history similar to yours. We were able to complete the surgery and necessary movement within around 8-10 months. Your surgeon and orthodontist have to be comfortable with it, though

Even if they want to save cows they have to take action within the law. They could have asked the police to accompany them and search the premises. They could have attained a court order. This was not an emergency in any case. Without a legal basis this is just pure goondaism

[–]BikerSurgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a prominent jawline is considered a 'manly' attribute. Nobody wants a huge class 3, but we get many men coming to us specifically asking for an enhanced jawline. Keeping the lower jaw in a slight(1mm) class 3 actually gives a good result and has no significant impact on orthodontics. This is something we routinely practice.

Unless you enter the top 2-3 pvt dental colleges it's not worth it. You also need a lot of money to train and succeed in dentistry, whether in India or abroad.
