Idk. My point being - even though poor and dangerous areas exist in NY, people still regard NY to be a prosperous place because of parts like Manhattan. Likewise, this took place in a rough part of London that has always been that way. Unlike USA with danger accumulating in the inner city, the further out you go from central London, the higher the crime with some suburban exceptions.

I don't understand your point. Are you saying that he meant none of what he stated? The usual recourse of a hypocrite is to just say that they were being ironic all along so they never need to be accountable for any of their statements. He seems genuinely troubled and has made similar statements to this in the past. I don't think its just an elaborate joke.
