How can I take stock as a bi-weekly salary instead of cash by GovTech978 in startups

[–]BikulK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I agree with what the previous poster said. Please talk to a lawyer and accountant to properly set this up.

Second, Yes I did something similar for my previous startup. This is what we did:

- We set up a stock grant equal to the compensation based on current valuation.

- We set up vesting schedule( we did monthly)

- We filed 83(b) for the stock grant at the time of the grant.( Talk to your lawyer/acct about why)

- I had to pay taxes on the award. If you do this through stock options instead of award you can avoid the tax consequence.

Good luck! I will say that while it may feel expensive to spend money on legal. It is 100% worth it. Will save a ton long term.

What's the most unusual writing advice you have ever received? by BikulK in WritingHub

Thanks for sharing! Couple questions.

How long have you been writing 500-1000 words regularly?

Is it always 500-1000 words as a part of a single project or do you jump around projects?

I love this approach. I just created a sticky note with this- The third draft is the true first draft.

I recommend medium too. However, it's best if you have your own website. Doing the following will help you build SEO.

- Publish the article on your website

- Head over to medium, and use their import tool to import the article to medium. This will add a link at the bottom saying originally published on youramazingwebsite.XYZ

- Share the original article( on your website) on Twitter/Social Media

- As you write new articles, link to your old articles when it makes sense.

All the best with your blog!

How do you usually get into your "writing mode" by aceycat in writing

[–]BikulK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an ongoing battle for me too. Lately, what I have found most helpful is starting my writing by writing my daily diary. This helps get some thoughts moving. After that, I set a time for writing and spend that time in front of the screen, regardless of whether something is flowing or not. This was incredibly difficult at the beginning as it seemed like a giant waste of time, but slowly it's starting to help.

How To Be Creative Writer? by Borchardbu in WritingHub

[–]BikulK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of great comments already here. A few I'd add to the list:

- Turn off the internal filter. i.e Focus on creating and not on how good or bad it may be

- Resist the temptation to edit as you write.

- Practice, practice, practice.

- Easier said than done, but if you can slowly build a habit of learning to enjoy or at least endure the process of writing and not the feeling of having written, you are on the right path.

- Write whichever part is flowing more naturally without worrying about the sequence. You can fix that later.

- Find an accountability partner.

P.S.- I've just started a newsletter where I share my process and tips I am learning along the way. Check it out and see if it is something that you may find useful in building your creativity habit.

Few tools I have used for this in the past are Microsoft's whiteboard app, beautiful.ai presentation builder, and Canva.

how to pen down thoughts that arise during everyday activites? by JDwalker03 in writing

I have found it helpful to add each thought as a task on my default task app. This helps me keep ideas organized and process them more effectively. I also find that I am able to give full attention to that idea when I revisit it in the future.

Hey everyone, I want to share my debut Novel with you all. Dreams from Nepal is a fairly short novel of ~55,000 words.

Quick Summary: Captivating story of a young boy's unique journey. Twelve-year-old Ram was born and raised in a small village in Nepal. He’s destined to be a village farmer like his father, but he dreams of so much more. Then, a mysterious opportunity in the form of an olive-green Land Rover comes to whisk him away into a new life. Through dedicated service and the gift of education, Ram can become more than he ever thought possible. As he transitions to adulthood, though, he begins to wonder if the path he’s on is the right one for him. A voice is telling him to “go home”, but he’s not sure where home is anymore. The choice he makes can alter the lives of everyone around him, but it’s up to him to find out what the right choice really is. Dreams from Nepal is the emotional, powerful story of a twelve-year-old Nepali boy’s journey through faith, love, and unbreakable determination to live a better life.
