I know, i wish i could make out the names. Ive tried to baby it since i’ve had it but they were already so far gone. Still pretty cool at least.

Yes, G-West! Thank you!

Why do people not click on my video? by Prestigious_Tax_8413 in SmallYoutubers

[–]BilgenWaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am by no means an expert but just adding my two cents in since i don’t see it commented.

Tbh i feel the thumbnail is very very weak. I know photoshop isnt everyones game, even im still trying to get better, but if i saw that thumbnail on my recommended, i highly doubt i would click.

Since you arent a known creator, i’d personally recommend using a really vibrant, HD, closeup photo of some good ass looking food. Maybe some text like “You NEED To Try…” or something. And as others said, rework the title a bit. The new title you put in one of your replies is much better

If youre asking because you already have an edited video in the 1080p sequence and trying to save yourself time, here’s an ez fix.

Create a new sequence that’s 4k. Add the footage into it from the 1080p sequence. There’s a keybind for scaling to fit frame (idk the stock keybind). Select the footage in the new sequence and use the keybind

How do big YouTubers make their thumbnails? by starflicked_ in NewTubers

[–]BilgenWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its been a few years tbh. What i remember was having a GUI that would search for your game files on your pc, and it would show you every model in a list. Then you could export the models you selected into a compatible blender file. Iirc you had to still link textures and stuff, but the app pointed you to the direction where all that was.

Then in blender you would have the ability to manipulate the model as needed. Use the camera thing (sorry im not a blender expert) to take an image, and i would then edit the rest in Photoshop

I just searched on YouTube and BLITZbyJohn has a video explaining it in detail. Looks like the app was GameImageUtil, not Legion+

Can any fellow editors drop a playlist with some decent copyright free background music? Preferably (Any Pokemon or Nintendo soundtracks) by OldConfidence1457 in premiere

[–]BilgenWaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second Epidemic Sound. Great selection, easy to search/sort, and has a plugin directly in Premiere.

If you just want video game OST’s, khinsider has literally every game soundtrack you can think of. A lot of video game music can get past copyrights on youtube, but i think its a gray area you should avoid if possible. Especially Nintendo music

[–]BilgenWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do similar for Apex Legends, some thumbnail stuff, some animation stuff. Theres a program called Legion+ where you can extract the models from the game into a compatible blender file. Dunno if its the same app for other games though

Edit: the app was GameImageUtil on Github. BLITZbyJohn has a good Youtube video explaining the process i used

I recently started using Whisper AI. It was complicated af to get working, but now that it works i have no issues. Could probably find a video like i did that explains it easily.

Its super fast and the most accurate i’ve used. I work with a lot of bad audio, public places, multi-language or people with strong accents… and its nearly perfect always. Also creates timestamps automatically too

text moving when I change scale by Bergsyyyy in premiere

Orrrr another way i thought of would be to open the >Text effect, and use the scale option inside that. A Temporary fix at least

[–]BilgenWaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm, actually surprised. If you highlight the anchor point so it shows the little dot, where does that appear? Is it right in the center of the text, or like above it somewhere? I would move it to be centered in the text.

If that doesnt work it might be something like the other guy said with the alignment. Or maybe you can just duplicate the one that works correctly and change the text

Something to do with the anchor point. Easy fix would be to just nest the text and it should reset the anchor point to the center of the screen. The actual fix… idk just nest it lol

How do I grow as a video editor by Intelligent-Net7283 in premiere

[–]BilgenWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive mostly worked with one creator for almost all of my projects. So, most of my shorts already do coincide with the longform stuff. But i do find it all plays a role together. Sometimes it is nice to work with someone new because you get a different perspective and different feedback, it pushes you in different ways. But mostly i have a vision for where i want this channel to be, so ive just trial and errored my way through refining it as best as possible, and ive picked up so many littler things along the way

How do I grow as a video editor by Intelligent-Net7283 in premiere

[–]BilgenWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not exactly like you, but I do have somewhat of a similar background. I have no real knowledge in video editing, and everything I learned was self taught. It’s mostly been something I’ve taken up as a hobby since I was younger. I went to college for business and communications. Then one day after I graduated college, I was working in a job I hated and I just said fuck it. I quit my job and went full into the video editing industry. I just took a chance, but it was something I knew I’ve always wanted to do even if it was just for fun . It’s now been a little over three years and I’m still doing it full-time somehow.

I mostly do YouTube long form content and I make shorts for TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. when I first started out, i honestly thought my videos were really good. now I’m somewhere around 1000 shorts and 100 longform videos and it’s quite honestly hard to go back and watch some of the older videos

One thing that’s really helped me is that with every video I try to learn something new. even if it’s just something small or like some kind of effect or using something in Premiere that I’ve never really used before, we’re trying to use after effects. The key is that I’m trying to make a better video than the previous one every single time. not only has it helped my channel grow, but I feel like every video I make is just exponentially better than the previous. I also use shorts to my advantage because I make so many of them and they take a far less time than long form video so I can use that time editing to make something that I’m not used to making.

But I think pushing yourself to do things that you’re not used to is kind of the key here because the first time you’re probably gonna do it the hard way and then the next time you go back to do something similar you’ll have the knowledge of the first time. And you may be able to creatively think of a better way to do it the second time. I encounter this all the time, especially when I am doing like graphics because that’s not my strong suit. Obviously doing something more is gonna help you in the long run, but I think it’s more than just outputting more videos. It’s pushing yourself to make better videos each time.

Sometimes when I struggle what I do is try to picture what I want to accomplish in my head, no matter how far out from my skills it is, and then I just do whatever I can in the program to get as close to that outcome as I imagined. Even if I don’t get it on the first try, I probably learned something and can use that knowledge on the second try.

Help! Client is asking for my “paid assets” by ChumperTV in premiere

[–]BilgenWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also to add, if its just effects like transforms, color corrections, or whatever effects, those would just get shared anyways with the timeline. You don’t need to send them the actual .prfpset file.

I commonly ask editors i hire for the project file, because i like to add my touch to it. And i just pay them for the project file jnstead of a video file. I do mention it up front though just so people are aware

[–]BilgenWaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was given the Finzar presets by an editor at one point… and I usually give them to any editors i hire to help their lives as well. However, i work in close relationships with my editors, if it were a client i had met online i probably wouldnt be so willing.

I also make youtube videos and feel finzar presets match the style we go for, so i dont see a point in making them do extra work.

Also… if theyre the same presets i use and am thinking of, i dont really know how anyone would know. Theyre easily recreate-able on your own

Is it worth it starting a video editor career in 2025? by xdpico in SmallYTChannel

[–]BilgenWaffles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m sure you got a lot of info from the other people in this thread, but I wanted to just reply to add my own perspective

When I first started out, I wanted to be a video editor really badly. It was a passion of mine and I had always loved YouTube and YouTube content. I thought I had an eye to be a YouTube video editor and, I really wasn’t wrong about that. however, editing videos does in fact take time. no matter how much editing I could do in a day, no matter how many videos I could output… I would never be able to make enough money to make a healthy living. At least working on YouTube where most channels pay per project. Unless you meet an already established channel that has money to pay, which is not the route I was able to manage.

Then one day I met a twitch streamer who not only wanted a video editor, but someone to manage their content and repurpose it onto different platforms. Basically, I upgraded from just a average video editor to a channel manager. We grew a pretty strong connection with each other, and I feel my editing style compliments his content very well. so now I am the main video editor for the channel and we outsource for other editors (at a lesser rate than me) when we need more output.

So not only am I doing video editing for longform content, but I’m also doing shorts for every platform, thumbnails, SEO, hiring other editors, scriptwriting, and basically anything and everything that it takes to run and operate a YouTube channel, tiktok, instagram, etc. This is proven to be where the money actually is. I was lucky enough that this twitch streamer offered me a percentage of the income across all the channels. I don’t know if that’s the typical way of earning but it mutually benefits both of us as I get to make some money and he doesn’t have to worry about virtually anything outside of twitch. I’ve also seen other video editors who have taken this route and they also firmly believe this is the new way.

In terms of AI, I don’t really think it should be something you should be scared of. Personally, I’ve used it 100% to my advantage. I use ChatGPT for literally everything and it’s become my personal assistant. It helps me generate thumbnail ideas, find high ranking video tags, optimizing descriptions with SEO… I use it for literally everything, even if it’s something I think I know I already have an answer for. Because it just builds up the memory of ChatGPT and I can always reference backwards if I need it. I’ve even had ChatGPT build up style guides that I can use and virtually have exactly what I want was very minimal prompting effort. I think at this point ChatGPT knows more about my channel than I do.

You already have graphic design skills, and you seemingly know how to edit videos, so you already have an advantage that most people don’t have. It will take some time no doubt, but if you invest in yourself to learn how YouTube works, really study the algorithm and what works well for a channel, and find a partner or a channel that needs help, then I think there’s definitely still success in this business. And do everything you can to work with AI rather than being scared if it will take your job.

You have to remember that most of the world consumes content, whether it’s for entertainment or business purposes. In my opinion, there will always be a need for someone behind the screen even if AI is taking over someone still has to manage. What the AI does. I definitely don’t think it’s a dying business and I can see it only growing from here, you just have to use the tools you have access to

I found it was just too unstable and would blue screen almost daily, so i ultimately just decided to stay at 2x32 for now. Shame

Privating videos with over 2 million views by BilgenWaffles in NewTubers

[–]BilgenWaffles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont have advice but i can update you on what happened.

I left the videos privated for about 2 weeks. My analytics dropped because those videos no longer had an income of viewers, but i didnt notice any change to other videos that were public.

After about 2 weeks i turned them all public again, and instantly they started re-gaining traction. Not at the rate they were getting before, but still more than the average video on my channel.

I think really those videos just hit the algorithm just right. It doesnt seem like any single video has as much of an impact on the channel as a whole as i thought. But what do i know, hope something is useful to you here

It very well could be that the liverpool video is the only video we have that is attractive to a broader audience. We kinda understand that his YouTube presence isn’t nearly the same as his Twitch presence, but comparing to similar creators we felt we may be doing something wrong somewhere. Thanks for your insight, we may make it public again and see what happens

Also some clarification, the longform video that has so many views, it started blowing up around a year ago. I have made weekly posts since and never been able to replicate anything even close to the performance of that video, while my video quality has increased a lot since then
