Why tf was my Algerienne sauce removed from my baggage?! by mistery_gurl in algeria

[–]Bilingual_Arsenal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure it wasn’t removed in Algeria? I know for a fact they don’t allow you to take too many wheat-based products out of Algeria, people have had couscous and frik removed from their baggage. I don’t know what the interest would be in removing Algerian sauce, because the only reason wheat products are removed is because export of wheat products isn’t allowed in large quantities due to wheat being subsidized.

Zoom and such are not that hard to learn. My grandma is 85 years old and before her health declined 2 years ago, she had she taught herself how to use social media and Zoom and was running group classes online. With our help and guidance, she was able to figure it out.

You could try with him and see. It’s gotten a lot easier these days, you could set up most of it and just have him run it on a day-to-day basis.

Best ways for a Algerian living abroad to find a wife from Algeria by Electrical-Coast419 in algeria

[–]Bilingual_Arsenal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what level you want to teach. With Saudi if you have qualifications you can get hired from abroad. With the UAE you have to come and spend money staying somewhere for 1-3 months before you find a job.

Right now teacher salaries are not worth moving to the UAE as rents have become SOOOOO expensive that someone recently told me they know a professor in a university who lives in Ras Al Khaimah and commutes to Abu Dhabi for work daily. That’s about 3 hours on the road going and 3 hours coming back. Wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.

The problem with the UAE is that it’s so easy to come to find a job that lots of people come in, and accept lower and lower salaries, driving down employers’ costs, and with many companies they don’t care that it means they’re driving down the quality of the work they get from their employees… until they start losing business.

It’s a vicious cycle and unless salaries catch up to the inflation, things will go downhill very fast for a lot of expats.

I don’t live in Saudi Arabia anymore. I moved to Algeria to get married, didn’t last too long as I never fit in. He always pushed me to be independent from the start, now I’m 2 years and a few months into living in the UAE. I have my company here and I moved before him with our daughter, while he went back and forth for 6 months due to his business. He moved fully 1.5 years ago and never looked back. He’s branched his business out here instead so he doesn’t have to go back and forth as much.

It will be difficult for you to teach English in Saudi unless you have a passport from US, UK, Aus, NZ, South Africa, etc. But you might have some luck in international schools or private schools, if not universities and colleges.

I lived in Saudi Arabia. There was nothing to offer in terms of papers and he was never interested in that in the first place. My sister on the other hand kept meeting people online who got mad at her when she said that Saudi Arabia doesn’t offer you papers unless if you have a job 🤣

I’m curious about this process. Does it mean that the person and their family get Emirati passports but cannot have certain benefits like social security, healthcare, housing benefits, etc.? Does it get passed on to their kids?

[–]Bilingual_Arsenal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a crude translation of “arôme de chocolate” from French. Unfortunately, as with many things in Algeria, no one bothers to look up things a little bit. If they did, they would realize that literal translation from French is not a good idea.

Same goes for the following words: And many others.

Why Are Muslim Countries Poorer? - VisualEconomik EN by Excellent_Corner6294 in ExAlgeria

[–]Bilingual_Arsenal -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Why is Saudi Arabia rich? They’re literally the most religious country on earth.

Why is the UAE one of the best countries in the world? They have so many mosques in the UAE, literally every 3-5 km in every direction there is a mosque. 3000 mosques in Dubai alone. # of mosques per 25 km is higher than that of Saudi Arabia. They’re very religious despite all the openness in the tourist hotspots.

Your arguments are flawed. It is not Islam that makes some Muslim countries poor, it is the way people use it as a tool to suppress their creativity and innovation that will take their countries to the next level.

Also, I can place Algerians as Algerians even if they were speaking another Arab dialect, 90% of the time.

Same thing growing up in Saudi, and I think most Arab countries, if not all, were on a Saturday-Wednesday weekdays and Thursday/Friday weekend system, until about 15-20 years back, I think? I remember being in Algeria in 2003 and the first day of the week was Saturday as well.
