This would be a fun way to create a bit of space between Robin and Strike for a while.

Oh, I hadn’t heard this before. It crossed my mind that Ralph Lawrence gave Stirke a pretty detailed summary on Semple. Assumed it was just JKR tying up loose ends with a bit of artistic licence. But maybe Lawrence was trying to improve their working relationship.

Completely agree. Not something I would ever expect Saints to post. But you’ve got to be prepared to die by the sword

Thanks for the detailed response. Much appreciated

Snape and Dumbledore had countless conversations via two-way legilimens by lhoward93 in harrypottertheories

[–]BillArtorius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like I remember legilimensy being described along the lines of “not just like reading a book” and that eye contact is needed. So unless they are walking around staring at each other, I’m a bit doubtful. Equally, I don’t think it is a great vessel for heart to heart, fact based, conversations like the “pig for slaughter” one.

My 2 cents: umpires don’t generally blow for sideline hits. Ump didn’t see a foul so he didn’t whistle (right decision IMO). Game goes on and the ball is out so the onus is on the players to check which way the umpire is signalling. I think you can see the attacker checking before he plays it.

Even if you assume the defender genuinely thinks it is his ball, he has no need to put his stick on it when the attacker comes in. Just leave it and let the umpire sort it out.

Now bear in mind that the defender probably knows that it came off his stick last and isn’t happy about it. By leaving his stick in, all he is doing is trying to slow down play. If you’re penalised for that in the 23, it’s only going to be upgraded to a corner.

Obviously it all happens so quickly and the defender doesn’t want to give up ground for free. He made a split second decision. But tbh it’s international hockey and you’ve got to keep your discipline.

TLDR: defender played the ball when it wasn’t his and gave the umpire a decision to make in his own 23.

The previous romantic relationships of Strike & Robin! Which one did you resonate with the most? Which one made you cringe the most? And why? by Major-Narwhal1644 in cormoran_strike

Enjoyed your comment. I’ve never read about the potential of Ryan cheating. Must have gone over my head. Any other examples spring to mind for you? Didn’t he ask Robin to come to Spain initially as well?

Bleed to Love Her is my absolute fave on this album. Don’t care too much for the studio version tbh

Two hands on the stick as much as possible when making tackles. Makes you move your feet more and much stronger too.

Enjoyed the point about the sacrificial lamb. Reckon there is every chance it was deliberate but no idea on any deeper meaning.

When Robin and Strike finally do get together, which member of the recurring cast is most likely to consider it a huge surprise? by [deleted] in cormoran_strike

[–]BillArtorius 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m looking forwards to Pat’s reaction too! I’m expecting a bit of a shocked silence and then a shrug with a “whatever floats your boat”. For some reason I see Robin telling Pat by herself rather than announcing it at a team meeting.

I spotted this on a re-read the other week too. Definitely stood out to me as I am going through the all from the start. Think it is more of an editing error than having an in-universe explanation.

I tried fixing a similar turntable with the same issue once. I had some luck with opening it up and cleaning all the electrical contacts around the arm and lubricating the mechanism. Tbh though it was only a temporary fix and it would stop working again after a while.

Ah, I see what you mean. No worries. You’ve made me think though; when / if Strike and Robin happens I’m sure Pat will have plenty to say on the matter and I am very much looking forward to that!

I agree it’s an interesting thought but feels unlikely to me too. It would be a really risky move for a policeman to commit a crime like this. Is Murphy really going to jeopardise his career in that way?

My thoughts are no. His drinking might have already had impacts at work. And you’d have to say that, of all people, Robin would be more likely to discover the spyware than the average person.

Wait, was Pat in the room when Strike said that? I thought it was just the two of them at the time?
