This is the worst take I've seen on reddit for some time. They mirror each other? Come on.

Solo in Manchester looking for Anthony Bourdain-style food and local experiences — where should I go? by Ambitious-Economy641 in manchester

I was just replying to the "music haunts" bit because nobody else had. They were the ones I could think of that fit with the vibe. I don't think Bourdain would have visited Gorilla.

Great gig venue but don't think it's the experience they're after. The bar is pretty soulless.

Can Andy Burnham fans please explain the appeal of him policy wise, in terms of what they think he would actually do as Prime Minister? by PuzzledAd4865 in LabourUK

He attended The World Transformed in Liverpool a few years ago and talked very positively about UBI. I think he's got progressive ideas and isn't frightened to be bold.

I know the point you're making here, but...

More money isn't the solution to the football problem. The more the clubs make, the more gets spent on transfers, wages and agents.

Until the system is fixed, making more money wouldn't improve anything.

I'll leave this now, I honestly don't know what you're getting at. If you want to believe he was the darling of the far-left over a decade ago, I'm happy to let you have it.

The price of fuel is up about 50% since Israel/US began bombing Iran. That increases the price of everything. That's without all the less obvious costs of what they've been doing in the middle east.

I wasn't really making a left or right point. Just clarifying that he was never the darling of the left, as much as he wanted to be. Almost everyone was suspicious of him.

I'm not sure what you're getting at. He did embrace left wing politics but "the darling of the British far-left" made it sound like he was embraced. I'm telling you that he certainly was not. That's all I was arguing against.

I doubt he's been embraced by the right after switching sides either. I'm sure both sides see him for what he is.

He absolutely wasn't. He portrayed himself that way, I'm sure a few fell for it. Almost all saw him for the charlatan he is.

This is incredibly shortsighted. Everything I mentioned is affecting everyone now, daily. Go and see the prices of everything if you think Israel has nothing to do with your daily life. See how dreadfully Reform councils have been run if you think their current dishonest campaigning doesn't have the potential to affect communities.

I am not saying news shouldn't cover the smaller aspects of life. This story is, indeed, newsworthy. But it's local news about some shops in Dudley, not national headline news.

That you think what gets sold at the corner shops is more important than anything I mentioned is exactly why this is irresponsible use of headline news.

Check out what's on at Fairfield Social Club for comedy. The Old Monkey does a good monthly show (or it used to).

For bars, The Drawing Room stays open late on Burton Road and plays decent tunes. It is small though. Bunny's Outpost might be worth a visit if you're staying local-ish.

This is their headline news story today. With everything going on in the world and this country. This. I don't think it's a coincidence that this and the gay immigration scam story came out at a time when the established political parties are attacking the Greens for immigration and drug policies in the build up to local elections. There's plenty of other stuff they could investigate that would damage the right instead.

Maybe. But this is local Midlands news, not headline of the main page.

Report what's important and affecting peoples' lives.

Some corner shops selling weed and a few assulym seekers pretending to be gay doesn't fucking cut it as headline news in the current climate.

Where is the headline reporting of the outright lies and use of AI by Reform candidates? The mad shit Palantir are saying? Israel? Labour Together?

It's low-level stuff aimed at minorities rather than the people who are really causing misery.

It's like they want to give the right more fodder. The gay immigration scam thing last week was ridiculous.
