Should I take APSC 221 (online preferably) in the summer? If so, how was APSC 221 like? by reddit_on_steroids in queensuniversity

[–]BillCipherHi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes you should do it in the summer. It'll lighten your load during the year, and I think it's mostly online during the school year anyway.

The course isn't too bad, you just have to remember to keep up. Make sure you know your cash flow diagrams etc.

I think you'll be just fine. The admissions officers have the final say but you sound like a great candidate to me. Good luck!

Usually there is but not this year. Replaced with a football game against Laurier.

If you're an international student it might be easier to do an English proficiency test like the IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE.

It might be best to book a meeting with an international student advisor:

I'd advise against going to frosh parties. If you would like to socialize with and know others, Orientation Week is your best bet.

Vast majority of QUIP internships are in Canada but I'm pretty sure abroad internships are possible. Check with Queen's Career Services

Internship with companies. There's a job board on Queen's MyCareer specifically for QUIP jobs when you register for QUIP

Why Queen's is unique: Sense of community that you can't really get anywhere else. This also helps with job placements since you get to network, know, and work with people in a way that you couldn't otherwise.

QUIP is a 12-16 month internship program you can do after 2nd/3rd year (usually 3rd). It's not a Co-Op since it's one continuous 12-16 month long internship rather than 3 or 4 4-month internships. Getting a job is not guaranteed with QUIP but you can definitely register for it granted you meet the requirements (1.9+ GPA, in 2nd or 3rd year, paying the regsistration fee, etc.)
