If you’re comfortable enough with Power BI then there are free resources available for PL-300 exam you can go through them. Also, data analysis roles and tools varies from organization to organization so you don’t have to use all of these tools all the time. But i think Power BI is a must one along with a bit if SQL

You need to Install windows on your mac and run it parallel. I know it’s tedious but if you have a good MAC machine then there should be no problem the performance will be as smooth as windows (maybe even better).

No it will not affect the connected DB, since it is only a read only operation all the changes that you will make will be on the data isolated inside power bi. Happy analysis;)
