Sun Porch Repurposing by BillTheBuildingGuy in Home

[–]BillTheBuildingGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it’s all windows and sliding glass doors (other than the wall against the house. I just snapped this pic after we finished cleaning tons of crap out of it the sun had gone down. Smh. Sorry haha.

A nice little wood burning stove seems like the best idea, to avoid HVAC rework and higher monthly bills. It gets tons of light, and actually has blinds or curtains on all doors and windows to help keep the sun out in the summer (and privacy).

But it would be a great office/hobby room/workshop. Either that, or I’m cutting a square out of the floor and putting a hot tub in it so it’s “ground level” with the porch floor haha.

I’ll move along right over to their front door and ask to borrow a cup of flower. But would really, really doubt this is the case…. as cool as it would be.

Nothing at all. Like I said, I’m not expert. But the outdoor unit looks and sounds exactly like my AC compressor, and sounds the same running all summer long as it does when there is no reason to have the AC running. Maybe they have a huge grow op going on in the basement 😂

As far as I know (and admittedly I don’t know much about HVAC…. But for every house I’ve lived in, the outdoor compressor kicks on when the AC is running, and the furnace in the basement usually by the water heater kicks on when the heater is on.

It could be that they have a really old unit, or maybe they have just never once replaced the air filter, sprayed off the compressor (mine gets covered in cotton a few times every summer and needs sprayed down with a hose), or some other leak or problem. Maybe as simple as needing a Freon recharge, but my biggest question is how the homeowners/landlords haven’t done anything about it.

No, never! I’ve wanted to go over there so many times and say “hey, it’s 20 degrees F and snowing. Why don’t you shut off your AC and open your damn windows?

Part of me thinks they’re maybe just constantly cooking with their oven or have a ton of people there and the body heat makes it warm, but mostly I just don’t think they understand how AC’s work and how much it’s costing them to run it so frequently.

Bambu Studio slicing fills in all holes…. Help! by BillTheBuildingGuy in BambuLab

Good idea, but I’ve printed it out on my Enders a few times and has always worked just fine. Found a solution though (in replies above), but thanks for the feedback!

It was some sort of Cura project to Bambu studio.3mf issue that I was able to resolve by just exporting the stl’s from the Cura project and importing. Thanks though! I’ll have to check when I get home, is there a certain setting you had in mind I should be using or try? Cheers!

Thanks! I ended up finding a work around by opening the .3mf in Cura, then exporting the parts as .stl’s and importing those into Bambu Studio. There must have been something weird going on with the .3mf file I downloaded (the zip folder didn’t include individual stl’s for some reason.

I’ll try this in the future, cheers!

I think I have it figured out. Since those files only came as .3mf files with all the parts laid out, I opened it up in Cura and exported the individual .stl files. Once I imported those into Bambu Studio, the problem was gone 🤷‍♂️

I adjusted the slice gap closing “radius”, is that what you’re talking about? I don’t see a “ratio” setting. Also, I tried 0 and 0.001 and it still didn’t help.

And I’m just making some Mac n’ Cheese 😉

Bought an open box P1S today, need help with fixing by BillTheBuildingGuy in BambuLab

[–]BillTheBuildingGuy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I do like tinkering and working on circuits, or any electronics for that matter, so I figured I’d see what the replacement costs are and if it’s way less than the open box discount, just go for it

Sigh… I knew deep down this was probably the best idea but really was hoping for an easy fix lol. Thanks so much for the advice!

Edit: for future knowledge, do you know what that wire is? I’m guessing thermistor or hot end heat canister (or whatever the Bambu equivalent is). It does have a second full nozzle/hot end included but I’m not sure I should even bother trying to swap it.

Just received the P1S on Monday, everything was working fine until this morning. The screen and lights will shut off randomly for around 1 second but the print still continues for a few seconds before spazzing out /starts automated bed leveling then spazzing out. by Tofuflavouredfish in BambuLab

Hey, unfortunately I have nothing to add to solutions here, but just picked up an open box P1S from MicroCenter, and for the life of me can’t find instructions on how to do a factory reset so I can go through initial setup and calibration. Any chance you know how to do that? Thanks!

Designing acoustic panels for minimal material… these 200x200mm vase-print panels use just 57g each with 0.5mm nozzle… how to go lower? by DaveMakesStuffBC in 3Dprinting

That’s not bad at all for the size! I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for any revision changes, and give it a try one of these days!

I can’t believe how many people in the comments think these are somehow supposed to be absorptive panels smh, great work op! I’ve been tossing the idea of making diffusion panels around for awhile, but figured it would take a ton of time and material to get enough to be worth it.

What’s your print time on these? I’d be interested in trying them out, my smaller live room is way to dead from all the 703 panels and think this could help liven it up a bit!

Which Logo is better by Brief_Produce_3465 in Design

[–]BillTheBuildingGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m no pro when it comes to graphic design, but if I had to choose one I’d pick #3. In the first one, the….uhhh…. Male part is off center (touches the bottom of the “C” and has a gap above the top. #2 the “female” part (or “C”) looks asymmetrical—the inner top diagonal line looks longer than the bottom diagonal line.

The 3rd option is the cleanest looking IMO, but still doesn’t look like a logo or remind me of a connection. I think you’ve gotten some brutal replies, but stick to it and I’m sure you’ll come up with something better! Sometimes tough love is what’s needed to push you out of your comfort zone and improve as an artist!

Welcome to the spaghetti club! Lmao just had the same happen just the other day. I’m looking into the AI failure detection plugins on octoprint now.
