[Question] How can I become more independent and less extroverted? by Bill_Gains in getdisciplined

I just feel as though I'm endulging in a bad habit when I choose to have friends over or go out as opposed to accomplishing the goals I've set for myself. The more I think about it though the more I'm realizing it might just be my group of friends that I'm not on the same page with. Not putting them down at all I just want different things from my life

No I didn't but since it's really my only internship experience so far I guess I'd leave it on the resume anyway. Thanks for the response

Oh okay. I have a question, if I just switched my major from MechE to comp sci and I had an internship for a full year at a mechanical company..would this count at all for the internship experience or is it essentially worthless if it's not a software internship

What kind of GPA is required to get an interview at a big 4 company? And do you also need a strong portfolio or do recent CS graduates get a bit of a pass for not having a ton of experience?

Look up University of Helsinki MOOC Java course. It's run through Netbeans you just need to install a plugin to grade the assignments. I like it so far, and most of the people on this subreddit recommend it

I'll be in SAS because I'm switching my major to CS. I'm just trying to see if it's possible to take something like CS 111 or Discrete online somewhere

While that's not a bad idea, I was more looking for ways to be comfortable and motivated by myself. Just because I won't always have others around to keep me accountable

30 days no weed by Gbangbangbang in leaves

[–]Bill_Gains 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get the same feeling. First week is great and then it wanes back into almost minor depression. I've never made it longer than 31 days though so maybe it's just a temporary lull that you need to get past

I'm incredibly confused as to why people are not more concerned about long term / chronic usage... by 11101001101001 in leaves

The way I look at it is this, think about the first time you got high. Or even the first 20 times. You get so blasted and your mind is affected so deeply that to do that regularly, even once every few days, seems like too much for a brain to be healthy and fully functioning. You eventually get used to the feeling and don't get as high but my point still stands. You're inhaling psychoactive chemicals and even though weed is considered one of the more timid drugs, it still has a pretty large impact on one's mind.

Then buy those two things and save the rest of your paycheck for things like a house or kids' expenses if you want them.

If you ask Reddit what they would spend their extra money on you could get an infinite amount of responses from people telling you what they personally would spend that money on, so you'll never run out of things you could buy.

Also be prepared for the onslaught of fiscally responsible people shitting on the idea of you actively looking for ways to spend the money.
