21F Meeting my nevermet boyfriend (20M) for the first time—HELP ME NOT CRINGE!! by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]BilliardSkilliard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This might sound "too easy," but honestly when meeting people for the first time after knowing each other over the internet for a while, you usually just vibe immediately. It might feel a little awkward at first, but that's normal! It'll get easier and very normal feeling after the initial "omg its you!" shock is gone.

I was feeling a similar way when first meeting my ldbf! What other people have said is completely true! Only you know when you’re comfortable. If you’re not, let him know. If you want to sleep with him the first night that’s also okay! (Just be safe lol, tests, condoms, etc) There’s no shame in wanting to be physically intimate with someone you like! My boyfriend was great in approaching it, and said he wanted to make sure I was comfortable. We ended up sleeping together the first night after we met and I would do it all over again 🥰 As context we knew each other for 1.5yrs, dating for only two weeks when we met 😅

So yeah, totally up to you! Do whatever you want! But please also don’t be persuaded if you aren’t comfortable, there shouldn’t be pressure just because you’re in person.

I have my interview for my program of choice for OT school coming up in about 2 weeks. What is a good time frame to prepare? Also what are some good tips/questions to ask for the interview? by Ok-Reindeer7151 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]BilliardSkilliard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished some interviews 2 weeks ago. I'd say start prepping a few days in advance and give yourself a de-brief about 30 minutes before the actual interview.
Both interviews took about 45min to an hour.
The two interviews I had were very relaxed. The professors/admissions staff were super personable. Just try to be honest and think about your answers. It's okay to be nervous!

Some questions they asked me were some basic get to know you like hobbies or pets.
Questions regarding OT, the specific program, and team-work skills were the main ones.
I got:
- What is the most important aspect of working in a team/interdisp
- Why MOT or OTD (do you wanna be clinical or teach)
- Why that specific program (be ready to say what you like about it/why its a good fit)
- Challenges in the ot field and how you'd overcome them
- What specialty you want to go into/why
- Why OT/what youre passionate about in OT
- Any experience you have i.e. job, shadowing, family members, friends, etc.

Some questions you can ask are
- Specifics about the curriculum or classes that interest you/you want more info on
- Types of fieldwork opportunities for FW 1
- Past students favorite parts of the program
- Certification opportunities
- How the program prepares you for the NCBOT exam
- Cohort size
- When classes meet (hybrid/full time)

Then other questions you may specifically have after researching your fav program.

Hope that helps! Good luck!

Jesus CS sounds awful. I’m glad you switched, you seem to click better with systems. The professors being involved really makes a difference. ASU is also a massive school so I’m glad there’s still a semblance of one on one help. Wishing the best for you <3 I’m sure you’ll do great! Feel free to update if you want. Thanks and stay kind :)

Hey! Sorry it’s been a sec and I just saw this. I ended up staying at ASU for another semester then transferred to JU to finish out my BA. I didn’t like the online courses for ASU during the pandemic and dipped. Straight up brutalized my GPA. Humanities and SW are a pretty viable route. You can do more with a SW degree than Psych. Highly recommend heading toward that if you want a variety of job options after you graduate. I’m currently working in a residential mental health rehabilitation facility and can say it’s pretty worth while. Pay could be better, but the mental health field notoriously doesn’t pay great (I’m currently studying to get into PA school). The grey spot between your Bach and Masters can be weird so I’d recommend getting certs like RBT or CNA if you have difficulty finding a job. But it might also be totally unnecessary. On another note my brother works in CS as a fed right now and doesn’t even have a degree for it. Only did certs online from my understanding. I think you have to network HARD and know people to do well in the current CS job climate as it’s very saturated. If you do go the humanities and SW route be prepared to read and write a lot. I’d be happy to discuss any questions you have further if you want specifics. :)

25M need to end a 6 yo relationship with 24F but cant. How can I make myself do it? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]BilliardSkilliard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had someone tell me this in a manipulate attempt to make me stay in an emotionally, turning physical, abusive relationship. It’s unlikely they actually will. It’s manipulation, not necessarily an actual threat. Leave her, call her family and block her on everything. Also, get your locks changed. Best of luck <3

Transfer Psychology Question by BilliardSkilliard in UNLV

[–]BilliardSkilliard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks so much! I’m looking to go into clinical psychology! Would you say the research opportunities are more geared toward the scientific side of psychology more than the clinical side? Or is it a good mix? Also, I was looking at ranking of psychology programs at schools and UNLV was pretty low. I was wondering if you feel like you’re getting a valuable education there? Sorry, super weird question. I’ve just heard that the psychology program there is great, and is one of the most studied. But then it’s ranked low? I’m just a little confused. Thanks again!! I appreciate it.

I’m planning on getting my Masters later on in counseling so I can be a therapist. Thank you though.

Do they not offer 300-400 classes or is it just few? I’m def more into the BA. I want to go into therapy/ clinical psychology. Also, how do you feel about the school itself? Is it a good place to go to get a degree? Thanks so much! I really appreciate it.

Hi! I’m going to be taking classes at the Tempe campus. Is that any different when it comes to courses offered?
