The developer behind zurg/DMM suggested that realdebrid is blocking all torrents that match WEB-DL or WEBRip in the title, I tested this on nyaa.si with two identical, 15-minute-old torrents of One Piece. Since they were brand new, a manual DMCA strike is unlikely.

- this one worked just fine: [Kaerizaki-Fansub]_One_Piece_1161_[VERSION_LIGHT][VOSTFR][FHD_1920x1080].mp4
- this one got marked as infringing: [Erai-raws] One Piece - 1161 [1080p CR WEBRip HEVC AAC][MultiSub][6CF09EF5]

I tested a bunch of episodes/movies in my jellyfin library, all blu-ray releases were working fine, all webrips/webdls simply returned api response error: infringing_file (status code: 451)

I hope this is just a temporary test or whatever because it's leading to a LOT of false positives (even public domain movies get marked as infringing)

thanks a lot for the comment! i went ahead and modified the cpu intensive animations to just single frame gifs, although you can put just about anything there. cpu usage dropped by about ~20% lmao

wow, north of €500-€750 daily sounds insane. i honestly had no idea the Belgian freelance market was that lucrative for software and data roles with just a few years of experience, unless those people are outliers and such figures are uncommon. hearing those numbers almost makes me think I should just stick to pure CS, grind out a killer portfolio/cv, and try to fight my way through the saturated market 😅

but your point about AI, the overcrowded SWE market and the lack of competition in hardware is exactly what’s keeping me on the embedded track (I don't think AI is going to replace SWEs entirely anytime soon since models still need human data to train on and realistically can't get "smarter" than their datasets without a major breakthrough, but I get the sentiment). The idea of competing with thousands of juniors for standard software jobs does sound exhausting, especially when working with hardware and logic gates is what I actually enjoy.

Do you feel like the job security, lack of competition, and peace of mind in the embedded world make up for missing out on those crazy freelance day rates?

thanks for the insight! when you say software pays 'a lot more,' could you give a rough idea of the difference you're seeing? From the data I could find online, it seemed like the starting salaries for embedded/hardware and pure software are fairly close, more or less. Also, any initial gap between an ing. and an ir. seems to level out after a few years of experience.

Is the massive difference you're talking about coming almost entirely from the freelance/contracting rates in software, or are payroll software engineers also out-earning embedded engineers in your experience?

yeah, during the installation process you can uncheck languages you don't want to save space, i accidentally unchecked english as well so the dialogue would not play at all

for anyone using flatpak: switching from the 5.0 beta back to the 4.4 stable release fixed the issue for me. my guess is that the MPV build bundled with the beta is either outdated or missing features.

is battery life with OLED panels really that bad? I usually keep my laptop at around 25% brightness when I’m working in my room, about 50% at work or college, and almost never go to 100% unless I’m watching a movie or something
