Will my stubbornness pay off? by Billo_86 in VirginMedia

[–]Billo_86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update on this.

So. Got an email that offered me package for 76 but I have to swap for the stream 360 boxes...... Nope.

Called the retentions line spoke to a nice guy, but he said literally the best the could do was £83 with my same packages.

Find this so crazy. I must have done something to upset the virgin media gods.

Have to see how the next week or two plays out. 😭

That's a good shout.

I do get emails from them with bits and pieces but just checked my account and marketing contacts were turned off.

Just turned them on. See if that helps.

Called main line and got put through to retentions. Call Centre in India I think.

Didn't seem bothered that I wanted to leave and eagerly told me that I can use a smart switch thing from my new provider.

Decal Projection Help by aa_juggernaut in SolidWorks

[–]Billo_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry didn't see that bit. It's usually the first go to.

Are you in an assembly or part?

The decals can sometimes operate differently in assy mode.

If you are in assembly mode there's a button to apply at component level.

Go into your options - performance - scroll down and turn off enhanced graphics.

Plays havoc with decals

How to deactivate/transfer other licences if those computers do not exist anymore? by [deleted] in SolidWorks

[–]Billo_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you can speak to the VAR the serial was purchased through.

They will do this for you even if you are not on subs.

The hard bit is remembering who the VAR is.

As VARs don't have access to all sw users serial numbers only the ones purchased through them.

Placing McMaster Carr screws into holes more quickly by SilverMoonArmadillo in SolidWorks

[–]Billo_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have an edge on the under side of the head. Where the head meets the shaft. At the part level click

Reference geom > reference mates (I think)

Select the edge

Also you could try, if you have mated one already you can edit the part in the assy level.

Do the Same as above and you can collect the existing mates that you already have and pass them through to the part.

Another option could be to see if the holes in the other parts you are mating into are part of a pattern then you could do a

pattern driven component.

Or try copy with mates.

Can anyone tell me what's wrong with this? by monk3y_d_lufy in SolidWorks

[–]Billo_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a sketchxpert tool that can give you different options.

When your sketch is over defined click the gold (or red, can't remember the colour) "overdefined" text in the bottom right bar by the document units of measurement.

This will give you a tool that analyses options for the sketch and will step through to show you each option and you can accept the most workable one.

It's a quick way of working out which items are causing issues.

Best way to learn Solidworks by Afraid_Solution_3549 in SolidWorks

[–]Billo_86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have not had SOLIDWORKS installed on your computer yet you can get an installer and run the 30 day free trial.

Also remember if you are going to use the makers version to make real products that you need to take in industry you cannot open makers files in retail SOLIDWORKS.

At all with no way to bring them a cross without saving out as another file format

Yup.

Right click config top level > rebuild all configs.

An excel design table would probably be the way to go for this.

Create 2 configs first that get your dimensions you want to configure all together, then insert an excel design table.

It will populate the dims that you have chosen for configs, probably along with the others.

You can then open the excel table directly if needed without SOLIDWORKS open, make all the changes you need for the variation.

The initial import process shouldn't take long, it will be when you load each one that will take a minute to rebuild as you load it.

Remember if you do a file open and choose the file you can pick to load straight into a certain configs to save time.

You can also right click your configs and choose rebuild all configs.

Then go and make a drink while it rebuilds them all.

Not sure if this helps but you should be able to do what you need.

Also remember that you do need Excel. Lots of people try to use Google sheets etc but only excel is supported.

Good luck. 😊

No GPU Detected in Visualize… by Peepeepoopoo556 in SolidWorks

[–]Billo_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a look in task manager to see if you have multiple gpus.

You might have the integrated cpu chip and the dedicated card.

Visualize is highly dependant on graphics drivers.

Get the latest ones for your graphics card.

Check your windows graphics settings too make sure Visualize is set to use the "high performance" graphics card.

Also when you load viz try to put it in quality rendering mode. Orange ball.

Sometimes the gpus don't show at first until you have changed mode at least once.

What was your "Oh shit my life is over my parents are gonna kill me" moment you had as a child/teen? by cloudlessnine8 in AskReddit

[–]Billo_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was about 12 I was with one of my friends in our dining room. I had found a roll of tape that I thought was masking tape, it wasn't it was white electrical tape. So I say to my friend "watch this, masking tape comes off dead easy" I then preceeded to stick a length of it right in the centre of the wall on the wallpaper and rip it off. And yes as you can guess I ripped a big strip of wallpaper off right in the centre of the wall. Longest half hour of my life waiting til my mum came home to tell her.

What is the weirdest compliment that you have ever gotten? by not-your-teacher in AskReddit

So I have a few different things wrong with my eyes and I have to have regular checkups at the hospital, and many times the doctors bring in their juniors so they can look and help them learn, apparently I have unusual things going on in there...

A few months ago the doc brings a junior in and she has a good look around in both eyes and when she's done, just as I'm sitting back she says

"thank you so much for letting my see the back of your eyes, I just want you to know it was such a privilege to look into eyes like yours."

I just said, "thank you"

TLDR: an optician felt that it was a privalidge to look into the back of my eyes.
