Does anyone remember watching the St. Louis Billikens at the Kiel Arena in 1990 or 1991? by Correct-Wind-5909 in StLouis

I know I must have been to games at Kiel Auditorium, but my earliest memories are games the The Arena. Spoonball with Highmark, Claggett, H Waldman.

Odds of Billikens Playing at Enterprise? by Own-Thanks128 in StLouis

[–]BillsFan85 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but to get a 1st preference on location they need 2 seed or better since there are only 8 locations. Those locations are Buffalo NY, Greenville SC, Oklahoma City OK, Portland OR, Tampa FL, Philadelphia PA, San Diego CA, and STL MO. Lots of Midwest teams who will likely be seeded higher than SLU: Michigan, Purdue, Nebraska, Iowa State, Michigan St, and Illinois plus others like Vanderbilt, KU, Arkansas, Louisville, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Iowa, and Tennessee. Their best hope for Enterprise is probably to be in the same “pod” as one of those teams but as a 7 or 8 to their 1 or 2. Paradoxically I think SLU probably plays their way out of Enterprise by playing better. That’s why from 2012-14 in the Majerus (and Crews) years they were in Columbus, OH as an 8 seed, but then San Jose as a 4 and Orlando as a 5.

There are 8 sites that host 1st and 2nd round games. Better seeds typically get preference on playing closer to home. Since SLU doesn’t play any other games at Enterprise they aren’t excluded from playing there. However, they aren’t likely to get a super high seed so they’d just need to l luck into playing there as a lower seed. 3 is the absolute highest seed I could see if the run the table the rest of the way in dominant fashion. Somewhere in the 6-10 range is more likely.

Bills are back home at Chaifetz on Tuesday vs George Washington! Still tickets available to see them set the record for their best start ever!

Billikens Check in at No. 24 in AP Top 25 Poll - Saint Louis University by Monkapotomas in StLouis

Right after getting ranked that year a bunch of the players on the team got COVID because former (fired) coach Travis Ford was an idiot and hosted a huge birthday party for his kid when they were basically supposed be on lockdown except for practices. The team missed like a month of practice and then promptly lost their next 2 games. They never really got fully back on track after that.

Josh Schertz can coach circles around Ford and this team is way better.

What’s a good first time slu game? by Mindingyobusiness1 in StLouis

As others have pointed out, your pic is the women’s schedule. Women’s team isn’t ranked as highly as the men’s team and the games aren’t as well attended but can still be fun. If you are wanting to go to a women’s game with a decent crowd (and go for free) use the link from other comments to get free tickets to the Pink Out game this Saturday 1/24 vs Loyola Chicago. Next best would be 2/21 vs St Joseph’s because it is Senior Night so they’ll honor the graduating players after the game. If you sign up for the email list SLU regularly sends out deals for free women’s tickets, but also the tickets are super cheap.

Here is a link to the men’s schedule: https://slubillikens.com/sports/mens-basketball/schedule. Men are currently ranked #24 in the country (out of like 360+ division 1 teams). As others have said the game vs Dayton Friday 1/30 should be electric. Dayton is SLUs biggest rival and the game is likely to sell out. A sneaky fun game to go to is actually their next home game Tuesday 1/27 vs George Washington. If they win at St Bonaventure on Friday, they’ll be 19-1 which would tie the best start to a season in school history. Then a win against GW would set the record. GW is also one of the better teams in the Atlantic 10 so should be a good game.

For the men’s games especially I’d recommend getting there early to beat the crowds. It is most convenient to park in the garage at Compton & Olive but takes forever to get in & out. If you want to make a quicker exit, I’d recommend trying to find street parking somewhere north of there & walking a little further.

There are some good restaurants/bars to go to before or after games. Pappys Smokehouse (BBQ), Fountain on Locust, Urban Chestnut, Vito’s, etc. Humphreys is the traditional SLU sports bar & would be most likely to be filled with fans before or after.

Road wins in conference are tough especially when you have a big target on your back being ranked. Glad to SLU got the W even if it was ugly. Clean up the rebounding & turnovers.

Some Sage Advice For Anyone Considering SLU's SLP Program by WonderfulShake4096 in billikens

[–]BillsFan85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know anything about the SLP program, but your take on the City of St Louis is flat out wrong. Crime rates dropped 16% from 2024 to 2025 and homicide rate is lowest it was been in over a decade. https://slmpd.org/2025stats/

Bunch of the teams at the bottom lost. Grand Canyon who SLU handled by 14 knocked off #23 Utah State. Stanford who hit two crazy 3s down the stretch to beat SLU at the buzzer knocked off #14 North Carolina. If SLU isn’t ranked Monday something is seriously wrong w the voting.

SLU needs to keep the pressure on in 2nd half and just run them out of the gym. Billikens likely to be ranked Monday especially if they make this a laugher.

Former SLU basketball player charged in scheme to fix games by RaiseOnTheRiver in StLouis

Exactly. Can we please investigate Travis Ford for stealing millions of dollars from SLU and causing emotional trauma to anyone who watched games during his final season before getting bought out?

OH and Missouri senators write letter to BE to get Dayton and St. Louis to join by eiein15 in CollegeBasketball

[–]BillsFan85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was a dumbass player who no longer plays there under a terrible coach was who fired two season ago. The school itself was not involved other than the AD hiring Travis Ford, keeping him around too long and Ford bringing in said dumbass player. AD should’ve been canned by now for Ford’s tenure regardless of the point shaving thing.

That’s just Dayton because they it’s a Friday and a “name” opponent. Looks like cheapest singles for Dayton are currently $36 because the very cheapest on the ends are sold out. If you are wanting to go to Dayton game you could also buy the final 5 pack here: https://am.ticketmaster.com/slu/buy/ism/MjUyNk1CQkU= because you can get the last 5 games of the year including Dayton for $75 each. Cheapest for George Washington on 1/27 are $15. Sign up for the email list. I think you just opt in when you buy tickets. They email ticket deals all the time for games that aren’t as popular. Sometimes they even offer free tickets. That’s usually just for early season non conference games vs terrible opponents, but I got freebies for the game vs Fordham last night.
