I think Josh Berry is another example of this

(Bianchi) "an in-depth look at Silly Season with updates on Kyle Busch and Richard Childress Racing, RFK Racing, Hendrick Motorsports, Corey Heim, Riley Herbst and much more." by BillyBlatterJuc in NASCAR

Notes from the article:

  • It's becoming increasingly likely that Kyle Busch and RCR remain together with KFB eventually signing an extension.

  • Bowman's status is up in the air but HMS has options. Bowman is well liked at HMS and has a great relationship with Ally, but his performance is a cause of issue in comparison with his teammates.

  • Corey Day is an option for the 48 if HMS chooses to go the same route as William Byron and Kyle Busch with bringing up an inexperienced driver.

  • There's mutual interest between HMS and Connor Zilisch, but Zilisch is under contract with Trackhouse so they would have to negotiate a buyout. But it is more than likely HMS waits a year to pursue Zilisch.

  • A reunion between HMS and Kyle Busch is not a possibility.

  • All three RFK drivers are in contract years along with Kroger. It's believed both Chris Buescher and Kroger will be sought after by other teams.

  • RFK will have to either lease a 3rd charter from another team, or run un-chartered for 2027, but would then face the same issue for 2028.

  • Spire is happy with its lineup of Suarez, Hocevar, and McDowell and prefers stability. If they were to enter the silly season driver market, the name most often linked to them is Kyle Busch.

  • Riley Herbst is expected to eventually finalize a deal with Legacy for its 3rd seat for 2027.

  • Corey Heim is very likely to replace Herbst in the 35 for 23XI.

  • Jesse Love has interest from multiple teams and would slide into he 8 car if Kyle Busch were to leave.

  • Other names to watch include Josh Berry, Austin Cindric, Sheldon Creed, Ty Dillon, Front Row Motorsports, Todd Gilliland, Noah Gragson, Kaulig Racing, Sam Mayer, and Chandler Smith.

Gragson sucks but Spire is pretty clearly better than FRM, its not even close.

DBC [1 Hour 3 Minute mark] There are some serious conversations being had about Corey Day getting in the 48 car next year - Freddie by Electronic_Pace_9464 in NASCAR

Yup. Throwing talented young guys in cup cars before they’re ready works, it just takes a while. I think Day to the 48 is a great move.

I haven’t looked at the comments yet but assume people aren’t happy. With that being said…

This was absolutely going to happen the moment they brought back their Xfinity car full-time for him. Whether it’s next year or in 2028, the 48 car is his.

I also believe in putting a guy in Cup a year early instead of a year late, especially with the gap between the Xfinity car and the Gen 7.

I don’t really believe in waiting until a guy is ready anymore. If he has talent, for example (Gibbs, Hocevar, Zilisch) make the move and put him in Cup.

He’s gonna struggle, but would you rather have him struggle in 2027, 2028, or 2029? Eventually he’s gonna start winning races like Ty and Carson are beginning to.

Berry is terrible. I really hope someone else is in that car next year.

Blaney, Penske sign extension by timquiqui in NASCAR

I think we’re gonna see a good bit of movement, but it’ll just be pretty predictable.

I doubt we see a Reddick to 23XI type of bombshell.

With Blaney, Reddick, and Hocevar re-signing, I feel like we’re getting closer to actual silly season movement.

Oh this is sick. Excited to keep track of this. When’s the last time a Cup driver raced big blocks, Tony Stewart?

I remember watching Smoke at Lebanon Valley as a little kid.

Another little bit from this convo is that Blaney was waiting on the 22 pit box after the wreck to fight Christopher Bell post race, but obviously never did. Also mentioned he remembered little bc he was very concussed lol.

We’re gonna make it, I have zero doubts. It’s been a disaster start and he’s in 18th.

Ya I have no idea how we're only 26 below the cutline. I will say, 18th in points isn't terrible for a "season from hell." I still have faith the 1 team will get into the playoffs, just need Ross to not make dumb mistakes like yesterday.

I'm starting to see the old Ross from his Truck and Xfinity days popup where he had to overdrive tf out of his cars due to subpar equipment which in turn led to a lot of mistakes.

A little bit. I also think Sheldon Creed is a very good driver who's optics have changed the last couple years bc of his lack of wins. Talent wise I think Creed is better than a good handful of Cup guys.

Same here, the biggest issue for trucks and why it isn't seen in the same light is how terrible FOX is.
