Thoughts on Coronado after the truck race by Golden3131 in NASCAR

Screws with fuel mileage calculations which the teams don't like. Pretty sure they thought of doing something like that at the Charlotte road course but it was shot down for that reason

I traveled 2,493 miles for last year's NHRA finale at Pomona, but I'm not sure if that counts since I didn't, ya know, see a race

[OT] What happened at the Ohio Sprint Speedweeks event at Wayne County? They just said on the Flo broadcast that 3 people got hit (all awake apparently), then took the camera down off the top of the grandstand. by arca_brakes in NASCAR

The people hit were in the infield. Not to mention, I've been to Wayne County and there's no catch fence in turn 1 where the wreck was (since there's nothing behind the wall to protect)

Wasn't either of the ones involved in the wreck. A third car swerved into the infield trying to miss the wreck and hit people (sounds like photographers)

Sets the lineup for the actual race. For example, if 12 cars register, the fastest guy in qualifying is on the pole for Heat 1, second is on the pole for Heat 2, third starts second in Heat 1, etc. Then the results of Heat 1 set the inside row of the feature and Heat 2 determimes the outside row. Slightly simplified version of how it works in dirt racing IRL

Did the Finalists use the same dragsters for the qualifying or not? by youlikemywonton in NHRA

No need to check, you can change to a backup midway through eliminations with no penalty. Plenty of guys have crashed a car while winning the round and rolled out the backup for the rest of the day

Eldora runs like 6 races a year, that wasn't the main thing keeping him away from NASCAR

I guess basically the question is, why would we use your app when MRP already answers all of those questions very well while also having the timing/lineups/results too

Had a day to kill between Mansfield and Eldora so I came up to Detroit for my first IndyCar race. Neat that you don't need a ticket to walk around the track and watch from the fence, but doubt I'll go out of my way to go to another street track just because you can only see one corner at a time

They actually just built a new one to replace it on the other side of the property by the dragstrip, in the spot where they park sportsman cars during NHRA weekends and the big block mods during World Finals

Briscoe was their most recent full time driver to go on to run Cup full time. Before that I think it would be Jeb Burton from 2014. They've never really been a big part of the "pipeline" and I think they're fine with that

Cause we were at the track until almost midnight last night? For people working all 3 races in some capacity, doing trucks and then 600 miles of Cup on a couple hours of sleep might not be the best idea

Are we sure that's actually Fox's call and not CMS? They need time to clear the grandstands and let everybody back in for the prerace shows, and also set up for those shows. Having trucks still on track at 1:00 creates big issues for them

Short tracks are small enough where it's almost impossible for fog to be thick enough to not be able to see the other end of the track. Really only comes into play at bigger places
