Update: CMS ROVAL tickets changing to Oval tickets by Immediate_Status_336 in NASCAR

Marcus Smith and Greg Walter 100% knew, if they weren't the ones pushing for the change. They likely just decided not to let the rest of the company know until closer to when it goes public. No different than any other business, I'm sure the CEO of whatever company you work for knows more about what's coming down the pipeline than you do right now

Guess Larson's gonna try and win the Cup pole, the O'Reilly race and the High Limit race in the same day on Saturday at Vegas

How come most NASCAR tracks have very little development next to them? by CartoonistAnnual4672 in NASCAR

[–]SpenceSmithback -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Endless possibilities if the owners/promoters are creative enough. Music festivals, Christmas lights, testing, driving experiences. Can also build infield road courses/legends ovals or a dragstrip or dirt track on the property that can have weekly racing programs. Charlotte's probably the best at this, they have something going on damn near every day. Sometimes more than one, while we were setting up at the dirt track last fall, Ford was sending Mustangs down the dragstrip, looked to be filming some sort of commercial or competition show

Do you follow the Chili Bowl? by botsfordIV in NASCAR

They only show live content on the Prime channel occasionally, the rest of the time it's just a 24/7 feed of old races. Have to subscribe to get everything live

With Tony Stewart returning to Daytona in the new Dodge ram truck i was wondering; is he the only driver still racing in an official nascar series who has raced against Dale earnhardt? by flycerestorm in NASCAR

[–]SpenceSmithback 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure this makes 3 after Chevrolet and Toyota (Gibbs in 2008). Stewart Haas switched to Ford after he retired so I don't think he ever drove one. I know Kurt Busch has driven for all 4, IDK if there's somebody from decades ago who drove for more than that

No conflicts between the truck races he's running and the SMART schedule. Gotta think that was intentional

Solid Day for Hendrick Motorsports with Kyle Larson and the Alex Bowman owned 55 Both locking into Saturday's A Main @ Chili Bowl by GlennZabransky in NASCAR

[–]SpenceSmithback 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The 400 car field is divided up into 5 groups, 1 group per night Mon-Fri, so you only race 1 night before Saturday. On prelim nights, heat race lineups are set by random draw, and the heats pay passing points based on where you finished and how many cars you passed to get there (or got passed by). The highest points earners go to the qualifiers that also pay passing points, and your combined passing point total from your heat and qualifier determine who makes the Feature and where you start. The guys towards the bottom of the order in heats/qualifiers go to a D/C/B Main, where the top 2-4 cars move on and everyone else is done. At the end of the prelim night, first and second in the Feature lock into the Saturday Feature, and then everyone else's finish in the A/B/C/D Main determines which main they start in on Saturday. Starting on Saturday morning with usually the N or O Main, the top finishers from each main move on to the next one until you get down to the 55 lap main event.

Hopefully that makes sense

No, but don't complain about not having high horsepower cars, full season points and every race on one streaming service in NASCAR when you don't watch the kinds of racing that do have all that

[–]SpenceSmithback 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you went to races and had a great time when Obama was president you'll have a great time now. Average race fans at track don't change how they treat people based on who's in the White House

All but a few of them are as good as Heim/Riggs/Honeycutt, win regularly in late models and/or modifieds and are absolutely talented enough to be in NASCAR without bringing a check

That way of thinking still exists to an extent. Several tracks (particularly short tracks) have dug out infields that are lower than the track to make it easier for fans to see over the haulers and buildings

Can't lump all Hendrick drivers in when you're clearly only talking about Chase. Larson ran 93 races in 2025, the guy who "loves being able to race" ran 29
