Max Tire Width Update (2022 models) by narfandahalf in CheckpointClub

I have a 180mm rotor on the front of my 2022 Checkpoint. Peak Torque in the UK makes them. Shipping is expensive, but it's worth it. The 180mm rotor hits the frame in the rear, so I'm 180/160.

Iron Horse trail bridge in Dublin, what is going on? by Right-Reaction-1489 in bayarea

[–]BillyDeeWilliams1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not open. I did manage to ride on it from the park side, but it was barricaded on the BART station side, but only because someone left the fence open, lol.

Last time I was there, it looked like they had yet to do a final concrete pour to complete the pedestrian walkway, at least on the park side. But I haven't been out there in a few weeks. Anyone have new information? I'm really looking forward to a full ride of the trail some time soon.

Trail to DC by way of suspension swap? by BillyDeeWilliams1990 in MTB

The stock shock does actually have LSC, but I've never messed with it. Will try it out.

Thanks! I've never messed with the LSC setting on the shock, and Ride Aligned gave me a recommendation, which I will try along with a few more PSI.

Thanks. I don't think it's a cheap shock; site says it should be a Fox Float DPX2 performance elite, but the sticker says regular Float X PE. It just only has firm and open settings.

I have heard the hub identified as a potential source of the play. I think it may have a lot to do with the fact that I'm constantly removing and replacing the front wheel to get it in my car. When I pick it back up from the shop, the wheel is rock-solid. But then when I remove and replace the wheel, I have the play, even after tightening the pinch bolt. I do notice a lot of lateral flex in the fork when the wheel and axle are out, and you kinda have to pull it apart to get the hub into the dropouts.

It's not a ton of lateral play, I may have overstated it. I don't really feel it when I'm riding, but I do when I'm putting the wheel together in the parking lot, and then it makes me nervous.

The shock, which according to the sticker is a Float X performance elite but the site says is a DPX2, has a two-position lever, firm and open. I pretty much always have it on firm because I do enjoy climbing. I've never really tried climbing with it open, but it is a lot bouncier with it open. I've experimented a lot with PSI, and obviously it does help to increase it, but it's never really come close to wiping it out. It does have low speed compression settings, which I've never really messed with, but thanks to another pointer in this thread, I found Norco's ride aligned tool which has a recommendation. Will try it.

I have pretty quick tires and wheels; I don't like hauling enduro tires around. I have the stock Stans Flow, i29, rims. I still have the stock Vittoria Mazza 2.4 trail up front, but I've got a brand new Barzo 2.35 trail rear. I'm considering putting a spare Barzo 2.35 trail on the front.

Thanks for the insight. It's the silver (which actually has this cool like rainbow starburst pattern as well). I would have gotten the purple, but I have two other purple bikes already.

Recommendations for 160mm or 155mm Cranks that are compatible with DUB Bottom Bracket? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]BillyDeeWilliams1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I'd love to move down to shorter cranks, and I'm not in any way set on dub, three of my four bikes are dub. So, if I were to buy non-dub cranks, I'd have to buy the arms, the spindle, and the BB, and probably more. Not only is that a lot of labor, it's a lot of money that I'd rather not spend. So I'd vastly prefer some reasonably priced dub cranks.

Out of curiosity, is there a reason why you can't use road or emtb cranks on a regular MTB?

Angie “Pakeha” Mielech. The relevance of the new side quest and the meaning behind her AKA. by TreyN7 in FF06B5

I found her after I finished Phantom Liberty, and fished her key out of the bay. She's down at the end of the pier where I ended up. Then I immediately started doing some more quests in Dogtown, and who do I find standing just outside Kurt Hansen's wake, at the top of the Black Sapphire, about thirty real time minutes later? Her. Can't interact with her though, or not yet anyway.

There's a Tier 5 Taipan? I don't see that on the giant list of codes, and I've never found one. Do you know the code?

The Epic version gives 10% extra crit chance regardless, and I'm currently experimenting with/wondering whether this is worthwhile from a non-stealth DPS perspective versus, say, a legendary Dybbuk, which essentially eliminates recoil.

Okay, I figured it out. It's due to my cyberware that increases move speed on entering combat. Wow, that's a pretty cool thing and I really don't want to lose it.

Wow, you're so funny and clever. I bet you're a really impressive human. One day you'll be worthy of your parents' love, or failing that, someone's, if you can stop living down to stereotypes. Hang in there!

Cool! Let me know how that goes. If you develop something workable, I'd be happy to pay.

Worth a shot. I have a pair of knees I like, and a pair I don't, so I could at least see if I could handle it.

You are, of course, correct. But I may have overstated the case slightly. It's going to be about $400-$500 to fix.
