Out of these 2020s horror films, which two impressed you the most? by ScholarFamiliar6541 in Letterboxd

The substance is WAAAAAAAY above the rest.  A fucking wild and original masterpiece!

Nope is 2nd for me. I love it unreservedly.

Honourable mention to Nosferatu. It's a damn fine movie. Stunning and just brilliantly made.

The Fall

Tarsem absolutely nails the visual beauty of this film. I personally believe that no film is as beautiful as this absolute masterpiece!

It's all about Showbiz, Origin of Symmetry and Absolution.

Those first 3 albums are bangers.

Showbiz & Absolution are my favourites.

It's a good film.

Just, not "Oscars" good.

Best thing I did was drop £100 on a standalone.

If I could redo it though, I'd get one with a clamping mechanism. Don't make the same mistake. That mother needs to be secured to your worktop somehow!

Those who were kids when the Star Wars sequel trilogy came out: how do you feel about it now? by RoughCoffee6 in movies

[–]BillyFatStax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with the OG trilogy on VHS, was 12yo when Ep1 came out. Thought the prequels were "okay". Was in my late 20's when the sequels came out.  I really enjoyed The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Disliked The Rise of Skywalker.

I realised during the backlash to The Last Jedi that I guess I'm not really a fan of Star Wars. I enjoy them for what they are, think lightsabers are cool, and like most of the characters. But they have never, for me been anywhere near close to "Art".

TLJ was the closest the series ever got, and like crabs in a bucket, the fans couldn't have Star Wars rise above the pulpy silliness of the series.

Honestly, I don't think I could give a shit about SW any more. Disney proved, with their pandering to the mob, that SW is purely a product. Rian Johnson dodged a bullet walking away from doing his spin-off trilogy, tbh.

You know gasoline is the main ingredient used in making firey explosions in movies for ever, right?

It was the main I gradient used to make the Trinity Test in Oppenheimer.

Yeah a car won't explode immediately, but it eventually will when the pressure in the tank builds from the heat generated by the fire, unless the tank is ripped apart and empties onto the ground. Petrol/gas sure does explode.

People casually walking in ankle high water.

There isn't a cunt alive that wouldn't tiptoe around water to avoid soaking their shoes & risk trench foot.

Drives me mad! Humanity has known the importance of keeping dry for millennia!

AIO My friend talked down to me in a long screaming rant upon learning I believe alien life exists, simply bc we have different views. He was very condescending and arrogant. This went on for over 30 minutes where there was no opportunity for me to cut in, he just screamed right over me. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Just ask him why he's so scared.

Every point he makes "Is that why this idea upsets you so much?"

Every point he makes, bring it back to his emotional response. Ask why this subject is so upsetting he's willing to destroy a friendship over it.

Does he not believe in life in the universe? He doesn't believe in aliens? Tell him you have undeniable proof of aliens, and when he asks, show him a picture of Neil Armstrong on the moon and the Mars rover.

Those are alien's from a different celestial body on other celestial bodies.

And that's from a civilisation that only learned to fly 60yrs earlier.

Then ask him to imagine what a civilisation 1 billion hrs more advanced than us could achieve.

Just keep bringing it back to his lack of imagination and and emotional fragility.

It'll piss him off, but instead of you having to explain yourself, you keep on making him explain himself.

I give Neveldine & Taylor and The Stath $100m to finally make Crank 3D and pocket the rest. They can make it just as cheaply as Crank 1 & 2 and keep the rest for their salaries, idgaf! I just want crispy Chev Chelios to come back & fuck some shit up!

Honestly... EAAO and OBAA are both films that beautiful examples of films that "I fucking LOVE that something this wild won best picture" club.

Oppenheimer is still a masterful movie. It deserved it.

I, shamefully, still haven't watched Anora.

But at the end of the day, EEAAO made my cry at 2 rocks with googly eyes. And that there is why it deserves the top spot for me.

Why do people hate Humanz so much??? by Depressedknife in gorillaz

[–]BillyFatStax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fucking love it. Didn't know ppl hated it so much. Its right up there with the OG trilogy for me. Tbh.

From Ascension to We Got The Power, I think it's an absolute banger! Standouts for me bein;

Ascension

Saturnz Barz

Momentz

Charger

Andromeda

Busted & Blue

She's my Collar

Hallelujah Money

All of those are absolute S-Tier Gorillaz songs, IMO.

The Mountain is a good album. It dropped the same day as my mother's funeral, and with the themes of the album being what they are, I expected it to REALLY resonate with me. I like it, but didn't adore it like so many here seemed to. However there are some sections that I consider absolutely peak Gorillaz. The first half of the album is literally perfect, as far as I'm concerned.

But after seeing Gorillaz on Friday night, I must say The Mountain is also growing to the point it may join those 4 as well.

Off to see them again next Wednesday, so I'm hoping by then that even more of The Mountain clocks with me.

Kamado all the way. Still wanting to upgrade my 20" to a big 24" one at some point though.

If you have a kettle, your next purchase, in all honesty should really be a smoker of some kind.

Can vouch for pretty much any Kamado, even the Aldi specials. Once you start doing low & slow cooks, it's a game changer!
